The Cure for Racistaphobia

via Cambria Will not Yield

Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day: -Psalm 91:5

The Alcoholics Anonymous organization has always insisted there can be no recovery from alcoholism until the alcoholic steps forward and admits he or she is an alcoholic. The modern, white grazer must step forward and make a similar admission about his racistaphobia before he can start the long road back to spiritual health. He must stand up and say, ‘I am racistaphobic. I live in constant terror of being called a racist, and I am incapable of fighting back against any white group that threatens to, or does, call me a racist. I am also incapable of fighting in thought, word, or deed any colored person or group of colored persons. I admit I am helpless against racistaphobia, and I need the aid of a Higher Power to rid me of my racistaphobia.’ That admission, or something like it, is what we need to hear from white grazers before anything wonderful can happen to white people.

If you’ve ever had a family member or close friend addicted to alcohol you know how heart-wrenching it can be. They have many good and humane qualities, but those good and humane qualities are being washed away in alcohol. So it is with the racistaphobic white grazer. He is not an outright liberal; he has not, like the liberal, lost all semblance of humanity, but his good qualities are being destroyed by his racistaphobia. The South Carolina whites who protested the trashing of the Battle Flag are a sad case in point of white racistaphobia. “Heritage, not race,” they asserted. But isn’t the Southern peoples’ stand against the Haitization of the South the most important part of their heritage? Of course it is. So there is no getting around it: If you want to truly defend what the flag stands for, you must defend the segregated, Christian civilization that the white Southerners fought and died for. Otherwise you are simply someone who likes to get warm and fuzzy over vague platitudes such as “heritage, not race.” If that is your desire, then you don’t need the Battle Flag; your flag should be a big picture of a slab of jello.

This racistaphobia is not just a disease of white Southerners or even just of American whites. It is a disease that has infected every white man, woman, and child in every white nation. And the disease has only infected white people; no person of color ever contracts racistaphobia. One of the peculiarities of the disease is that the man suffering from it generally doesn’t even know he has it. The disease sinks into the spine and heart and makes a man unable to stand upright and feel normal human sentiments, but still it remains undetected because the disease protects itself by making spinelessness and heartlessness seem normal to the man who has racistaphobia.

We do know the cause of racistaphobia and we know the cure, albeit very few victims of racistaphobia ever seek to be cured. The cause of racistaphobia is theological Christianity and the cure is European Christianity. Human beings see life “feelingly”; their organ of sight is the heart, not the head. When the churchmen made the great shift, when they shifted the European’s vision to the analytical eye of the mind, away from the visionary eye of the heart, the Europeans began to look at existence askew. They gradually became unable to love the good, because they couldn’t see the good. Instead of loving God in and through their people, the Europeans became acquainted with a concept of God as seen through the mind of the theologian of their choice. Many white grazers – probably most of them – no longer even attend church, but the damage has been done; they don’t see existence feelingly as St. Paul and the antique Europeans did. They have made existence a second-hand intellectual concept. For white people, words are not connected to their souls; they are only tools of the intellect. When an antique European said he loved his people, he meant a very specific people, the people of his own race and his own house. When a modern European says he loves his people, he means he loves a universal concept of ‘a people.’ And his love is slanted toward colored people, because the intellectuals, whom the white man is in the habit of obeying ever since his church-going days, only recognize people of color as genuine people.

No matter what issue comes up in the white man’s life, his frame of reference is the great, disembodied minds of the liberals. He makes his plea for respect for his heritage, for tax relief, for the right to exist, in terms he thinks will please the liberals. So he always makes the case for himself in racistaphobic terms. Welfare is bad because it breaks up black families; the Battle Flag represents heritage, not race; we need tax relief so that small black businesses can thrive… and on it goes. The liberals have changed the European’s heartfelt vision of Christ to a mind-forged vision of a utopia consecrated to the negro gods and the lesser demigods of color. Just as the antique Christians were enjoined to love their God with all their heart, mind, and soul, and to love their neighbor as themselves, the modern Europeans, the racistaphobic Europeans, love their negro gods with all their heart, mind, and soul, and love all colored people as their neighbors, lest the great liberal minds, the conscience of the modern Europeans, should call them racists.

A few years back I saw a back issue from the 1970s of a neopagan, white nationalist magazine. After some black riot somewhere, the magazine’s editors had predicted that white people were beginning to wake up. Fast forward to our present day, and the same type of white nationalists are saying the same thing: “White people are beginning to wake up.” But of course white people aren’t beginning to wake up. It is 40 years later and white people are still racistaphobic. The logical conclusion is that white people will remain racistaphobic, and as a result they will die out as a distinct race. But there is one caveat to that logical conclusion. The ‘wake-up’ boys are part of the problem. They appeal only to the minds of the racistaphobic whites. Let’s take a typical atrocity story – the New Orleans Superdome debacle, for instance. The wake-up boys call the attention of racistaphobic whites’ to the blacks’ subhuman behavior during the course of the flood, and racistaphobic whites deplore the blacks’ behavior. But when the wake-up boys go further and try to make a point about the savagery of the black barbarians, warning bells go off in the racistaphobic whites’ heads. ‘It’s not all blacks,’ and, ‘Anyone would have done the same thing in their place,’ takes control, and the racistaphobic whites remain unchanged. They will remain racistaphobic no matter how many black atrocities occur, because they see existence through the eyes of the intellect, not the heart. They will never see life as their white Christian ancestors saw life, and without that vision, racistaphobia can never be cured.

It must be stressed that there is a cure for racistaphobia, but the cure does not lie in an enlightened intellect; the cure lies in the visionary heart – the heart that perceives truth and acts according to the truth it sees, undistilled and unprocessed by philosophy and theology. All whites are born into a racistaphobic world. A few fight through their racistaphobia and become Europeans again, but very few do so, because of the dual nature of the enlightened-mind trap. Every European with racistaphobia is a victim of the enlightened-mind trap in the university or in the church. The appeal in both institutions is to the pride of intellect: ‘Only primitive people, people with inferior minds, believe in prejudices stemming from race.’ This is the constant refrain we hear, but it only applies to white people. Colored people, who are ‘so authentic,’ can and should be prejudiced, because their prejudices are … ‘well, they are so organic.’

In every organized church there is a division in the church between the more conservative element and the more liberal element – there are the fundamentalists vs. the mainstream Protestants and the Catholic mainstream vs. the traditionalists. But this is a false dichotomy; the seemingly divergent groups are united in the one essential – essential, that is, for the continuance of liberalism. What binds the groups together is theological Christianity. Neither liberal Protestant or fundamentalist Protestant, or liberal Catholic or traditionalist Catholic is connected to the body of Christ, because they are not connected to the people who loved Him, the antique Europeans. If the church of Christ is only a ‘this world only’ church, like the type of church fashioned by the Pharisees who were condemned by Christ, then we are worse off than the heathens of color. We have no God of our ascending race. But if the church consists of those who love much, then we have a God who can sustain us against the racistaphobia that terrorizes the white race.

This spiritual pestilence of the soul, this racistaphobia, governs every aspect of the white man’s life. When an atrocity occurs against the white race, liberals always respond with an attack on the white or group of whites who express either outrage against the colored perpetrator of the atrocity or concern for the white victim of the atrocity. But racistaphobia still infects the second group of whites, those whites who express outrage and concern. These whites immediately form discussion groups to decide ‘what must be done’ to prevent future atrocities. All well and good? No, it is not well and good. Their first order of business is always to denounce racism: ‘We don’t hate all Mexicans,’ or, ‘We condemn violence, not blacks…’ We’ve all heard the constant refrain of the racistaphobic white who will never, never face the racial issue head on. While the liberals and the colored hordes scream death to all whites, the racistaphobic whites spend all their time explaining why they don’t hate liberals and colored people; they are not racists, you know. And does it ever work? No, it doesn’t. No matter how much the white man fawns, begs, and appeases, he is found guilty of racism. And for that crime, he must die.

What would it take to hear that the white man, like Tiny Tim, “did not die”? It would take one white man and then another and then another to break with the academy and the church.(1) The European poets of the Christian era, separate from the academy, speak to us from a better world, His world. And the holy Scriptures, separate from the theological experts in the organized churches, touch our hearts and souls and make us feel that we are in communion with Christ. Those two sources of revelation, intimate contact with our people, the people who loved much, and intimate contact with our Lord, through His word, unadulterated by theological experts, are the cure for racistaphobia.(2) The repudiation must be complete. Academy and church hate the European people and their God. They must die if the European people are ever going to walk away from that sickness unto death, racistaphobia, and live life abundantly as our Christian people of long ago once lived.

Notes:

(1) It’s probably a sign of old age that I find myself citing things as recent that happened many years ago. So with that caveat, let me say that I ‘recently’ read a blog by Wheeler McPherson in which he related how he had left “Churchianity” behind in order to be closer to Christ. What a wonderful way to describe one’s progress away from the church-induced stupor of racistaphobia to the light of His Europe!

(2) Once every year and a half, approximately, I read Great Expectations with my family. My children know my two favorite scenes in the book, and they always, quite generously, allow me to read those scenes, which are close together near the end of the novel. The first scene is when Pip, having found out what truly makes one a gentleman, promises to be loyal to Magwitch:
“Lookee here, dear boy,” said he. “It’s best as a gentleman should not be knowed to belong to me now. Only come to see me as if you come by chance alonger Wemmick. Sit where I can see you when I am swore to, for the last o’ many times, and I don’t ask no more.”
“I will never stir from your side,” said I, “when I am suffered to be near you. Please God, I will be as true to you as you have been to me!”
And then there is the final death bed scene:
With a last faint effort, which would have been powerless but for my yielding to it and assisting it, he raised my hand to his lips. Then, he gently let it sink upon his breast again, with his own hands lying on it. The placid look at the white ceiling came back, and passed away, and his head dropped quietly on his breast.
Mindful, then, of what we had read together, I thought of the two men who went up into the Temple to pray, and I knew there were no better words that I could say beside his bed, than “O Lord, be merciful to him a sinner!”
In those two passages we see what the miracle of Europe was all about. The truths of Scripture entered the blood of the European people. The modern churchmen bid us look to the natural, authentic creatures of nature, the colored tribesmen. Don’t do it. Look back to the only truly ‘authentic’ people, the antique Europeans, and the only truly ‘authentic’ civilization, Christian Europe.

The Death of the World Economy (and Marxism)

via Alternative Right

Rule number one: never predict what you want to happen. Because it is simply not going to happen. You are not God and the world can be brutally callous about your special-snowflakeism. This was the mistake that Paul Mason made when he wrote his latest book PostCapitalism, which he is now pimping with an overlong article in the Guardian, Britain's leading trade rag for sociologists and social workers.

Everything about Mason is “Guardianista” – a Trotskyist media type and "academic," proud of his Jewish and mining roots (two separate strands obviously), who proclaims an affinity for Northern Soul, a Northern British working-class dance movement centred on worshipping the absent Black man... Pass the sick bucket!

Your average Guardian reader, now in his late 50s or 60s, has lived a life in which leftist economics has been taken down a dark alley and had its head severely kicked in on at least several occasions, by a big nasty, thug called Reality.

He has lived through the Thatcher years, the vacuousness of New Labour and the death of the Labour Party, which is now in the process of jumping into the dustbin of history by electing Jeremy Corbyn (same demographic as Mason) to its top job; and most recently he has seen the last great hope of Socialiasm, SYRIZA pushed down on its threadbare knees and forced to grovel before the parsimonious and quietly arrogant Germans.

Mason: a believer in
postmortem socialist utopia.
When it comes to “dildos up the ass,” the Leftist economist has suffered almost as badly as the White nationalist, who has seen his country turned into a Pakistani rape camp. We feel your pain, bro, but not at all for the same reasons.

This leftist pain is the animus behind Mason’s book, which is essentially a re-parcelling of the utopian balderdash of Marxism in order to send it off to a location in the far distant future, at which none of us, least of all the Guardianista generation, will ever arrive. More than anything, Mason’s book can best be interpreted as a Guardianista secular form of heaven beyond the grave.

On to the pathetic substance of Postcapitalism (available from Amazon for $20.25 LOL). Here is the thin slice of vegan tofu beef-substitute in this unnutritious Ryvita sandwich:
"Postcapitalism is possible because of three major changes information technology has brought about in the past 25 years. First, it has reduced the need for work, blurred the edges between work and free time and loosened the relationship between work and wages. The coming wave of automation, currently stalled because our social infrastructure cannot bear the consequences, will hugely diminish the amount of work needed – not just to subsist but to provide a decent life for all.

Second, information is corroding the market’s ability to form prices correctly. That is because markets are based on scarcity while information is abundant. The system’s defence mechanism is to form monopolies – the giant tech companies – on a scale not seen in the past 200 years, yet they cannot last. By building business models and share valuations based on the capture and privatisation of all socially produced information, such firms are constructing a fragile corporate edifice at odds with the most basic need of humanity, which is to use ideas freely.

Third, we’re seeing the spontaneous rise of collaborative production: goods, services and organisations are appearing that no longer respond to the dictates of the market and the managerial hierarchy. The biggest information product in the world – Wikipedia – is made by volunteers for free, abolishing the encyclopedia business and depriving the advertising industry of an estimated $3bn a year in revenue."
Essentially, he is talking about an economy run on blogging with magic factories, run by kindly robots, supplying everything else. This would be like Karl Marx pointing to philately and philanthropy as refutations of capitalism. A hobby that people do because they enjoy it is not a repudiation of a monetary economy.

Post-Marxism in action: new welfare recipient
arrives in the West and takes a selfie.
Narratives like Mason’s will continue to have traction, not because they are perspicacious, but because they stem from a widespread sense of malaise that is generated by global capitalism and its original Faustian bargain. But this is not anything the Left has a handle on, nor indeed the fake Right. Those two are simply aspects of the problem (see illustration above). It is only here, in the alternative right, that any true sense of the problem can be grasped.

In the last two-hundred-and-fifty years the world has seen enormous growth in the economy, in living standards, and in wealth. We have broken free from the Malthusian Trap that imprisoned all former economies. But this economic miracle has also seen massive growth in poverty, degradation, and dissatisfaction. It is a phenomenon that has both good and bad sides. But to understand why capitalism is doomed in its present form, you have to understand how it actually worked during its past golden age.

There are three points to consider, which can be organized under the following rubrics: MOTIVES, MODES, and MEANS

The MOTIVES can be defined as the animal spirits that have driven capitalism, in other words, hunger, greed, sexual desire, and family feeling. The desire in these basic human drives are what has driven the spirit of enterprise and the power of labour.

The MODES can be defined as the manner in which this economic miracle has unfolded. Central to the essence of this post-Malthusian expansion has been growth and credit. Because the economy was always able to grow – through massive new technical breakthroughs and plugging in new vast markets and demographics to the system – it could run on an increasingly credit-driven system, which externalized the risk of investment in future growth and profits.

The MEANS can be defined as those elements of the global population that were able to be transformed into the kind of high productivity people necessary to keep the system growing, essentially this means high-IQ, high-trust, industrious, conscientious populations of the type formally found in Northern Europe, and to a lesser extent Southern Europe and East Asia.

Endless growth.
Combined together, these three aspects produced the miracle whose fleeting form we now inhabit. But, just to identify these fundamental aspects of capitalism is to realize how broken the system now is.

Firstly and most importantly, the MEANS are in decline. While there are much more Whites and East Asians than there were 250 years ago, as a proportion of the global population, these groups are plummeting, while less, non-, and anti- productive populations, like Africans, are soaring.

The MODE is also under attack. Technology continues to advance, but a rule of diminishing returns has set in. While our grandparents or great grandparents saw their lives completely revolutionized by technology – with enormous economic impacts – we have merely seen ours tweaked a bit. Think: jet electricity and jet travel vs. wind turbines and Facebook.

We have entered upon a phase of technological and economic stagnation. Growth is no longer as possible as it once was, and what growth there is, is over-leveraged, and has deleterious effects both on both MOTIVE and MEANS.

Our dynamic modern economy,
Finally, the MOTIVES are under attack. Hunger, greed, sexual desire, and family feeling have all been brutally undermined by capitalism, especially among the naturally most productive members of the world population. The proof if it is needed is in the demographics of these groups.

We live in an age of bloated obesity, mass pornography (a form of anti-sexualism), and gender deconstruction, in which the traditional family structure is collapsing; an age of sneering atomized cynicism and increasing selfishness (and self-loathing), where the responsibilities and once potent loyalties of the family have been coopted by the debt-addled welfare state.

We have little to work for now except crass egoism or the declining habits of a past culture that linger on, and we exist in constant conflict with our remaining emotions. The healthy, strong, life-affirming emotions of the past, and the discipline they inculcated, are objects of ridicule and snark.

When they talk about the structural and long-term problems of the global economy, these are the factors they should be talking about. Rather than the Pollyannas of intellectually dead Marxists like Mason, we are heading for much darker and dystopian times. The alt-right is a short seller.

Defining 'Feminism'

via Radix

Speaking of cucks, Michael Sonmore, writing at New York magazine, gives us a new definition of “feminism”:
As I write this, my children are asleep in their room, Loretta Lynn is on the stereo, and my wife is out on a date with a man named Paulo. It’s her second date this week; her fourth this month so far. If it goes like the others, she’ll come home in the middle of the night, crawl into bed beside me, and tell me all about how she and Paulo had sex. I won’t explode with anger or seethe with resentment. I’ll tell her it’s a hot story and I’m glad she had fun. It’s hot because she’s excited, and I’m glad because I’m a feminist.
Before my wife started sleeping with other men, I certainly considered myself a feminist, but I really only understood it in the abstract. When I quit working to stay at home with the kids, I began to understand it on a whole new level. I am an economically dependent househusband coping with the withering drudgery of child-rearing. Now that I understand the reality of that situation, I don’t blame women for demanding more for themselves than the life of the housewife.  [. . .]
When my wife told me she wanted to open our marriage and take other lovers, she wasn’t rejecting me, she was embracing herself. When I understood that, I finally became a feminist.  [. . .] Going out alone to hooking up with others was an easy transition. It does work both ways and, yes, I too enjoy sexual carte blanche. I just don’t use mine as much as my wife uses hers. What’s important is equality of opportunity, not outcome.
As John Durant points out, none of this is “feminism,” so much as a role reversal of pre-Sexual Revolution norms, or a photographic negative of Mad Men. Now, the man stays in the domestic sphere with the kids, in a state of sheltered naiveté and willed blindness, while the female matriarch provides for the household and grants herself the privilege of occasionally going on the prowl. All that’s missing is a Loretta Lynn record playing in the background . . . oh wait, that’s there, too.

On another level, Sonmore, despite himself, reveals something important about feminism. It is not about “equal opportunity” or any of the various liberal catch-phrases he recites. Feminism is a symbolic and psychic punishment of men for millennia of patriarchal rule. Men must endlessly engage in sadomasochistic ritual and role playing in order to extirpate the sin of once governing society.

The fact that people like Sonmore enjoy their punishment does mean that it is not punishment, or that his arrangement with his wife is not founded on an overriding sense of Male Guilt.

I’m sure Christian monks secretly enjoyed their self-flagellation, too.

Jewish Rabbis Put Pope on Trial for 'Anti-Semitism'

via DavidDuke.com

Alison Weir has recently joined the long list of Goyim who have been charged by the Palestinian Solidarity Movement’s Sanhedrin Court. Alison, however, should cheer up, Pope Francis has also been charged in a Sanhedrin court in a different jurisdiction. This time it is the Jerusalem Sanhedrin, pretty much the same Jewish Judicial entity that charged Jesus before he was brought up in front of Roman Governor Pontius Pilate.

An Israeli media outlet reported last week that The Jerusalem Sanhedrin –a Jewish religious ‘High Court composed of 71 sages’, has declared that it is putting Pope Francis on trial unless he retracts his statement that the Jews have no right to the land of Israel or to Jerusalem.

Pope Francis’ crime is that he officially recognised the existence of the State of Palestine. The trial and judgment will be on September 20th, 2015. Fortunately, this leaves Pope Francis enough time to seek legal advice from Alan Dershowitz. However, if Pope Francis chooses to ignore the summons, he will be judged in absentia.

Like JVP’s Sanhedrin’s letter to Alison Weir, the Jerusalem Sanhedrin letter to Pope Francis conveys a clear, threatening and disrespectful Judeo-centric message. However, unlike Alison Weir, who had only to endure expulsion from the JVP synagogue, the Pope may have to face the Wrath of God and his chosen tribe.

“We require from you an apology for your recognizing as a nation those who stole the land, those who are known as the Palestinian Authority, and we are informing the Vatican that the sole God given right to the land of Israel is to the Nation of Israel. If His Honor the Pope, and the Vatican, do not apologize within two weeks of receiving this letter, and if he does not change his ways, we shall judge these actions in the Court of Mount Zion, in a court of 71 Jewish elders of Zion, and enact the prophecy of ‘The liberators will rise up upon Mount Zion, to judge the Mountain of Esau and the kingdom shall be God’s’ (Obadiah 1:21). The court shall judge the Vatican in its presence or in absentia, and it is possible that the Vatican will be found guilty of anti-Semitism, as has been known to be done several times throughout history, and to place responsibility upon the Vatican for all of the outcomes of its actions.”

The letter was signed by ‘The Secretariat of the Court of Mount Zion’. Representing the High Court are Rabbi Yoel Schwartz, Rabbi Dov Levanoni, Rabbi Israel Ariel, Rabbi Daniel Stavsky, Rabbi Yehuda Edri, and Rabbi Dov Meir Shtein. Breaking Israel News admitted that The Sanhedrin has no political or legal status, and clearly has no authority over the Vatican. However, it is comprised of some of the “greatest rabbis of the modern Jewish nation, men who have dedicated themselves to Torah, serving God and Israel.” Apparently one of the primary leaders behind the revival of the Sanhedrin is Rabbi Yoel Schwartz, well known for his advocacy of strengthening non-Jewish support for Israel. It is likely that if the Almighty listens to anyone, Rabbi Yoel Schwartz assumes that it is he.

I guess that the message to Alison Weir, Pope Francis and the rest of us is clear as well as urgent – with all these Sanhedrin courts pouring their wrath on the Goyim, the time to form a Goyim Defense League (GDL) is overdue.

Mussolini & Racism

via Counter-Currents

Renato Bertelli,
Profilo continuo di Benito Mussolini
In September of 1941 I was summoned to Palazzo Venezia. I did not imagine that Mussolini himself wanted to speak to me. [Alessandro] Pavolini led me to him and was present during our conversation. Mussolini told me that he had read my work Sintesi di dottrina della razza [Synthesis of the Doctrine of Race], which had been published by Hoepli, that he approved of it and that he saw in the ideas presented in it the basis for the formulation of an independent and antimaterialist Fascist racism. “This is exactly the sort of book we need,” he said.

To understand the significance of these statements one must recall the situation at that time in Italy with regard to racism. Several months earlier, Mussolini had thought it necessary to take a stance on the issue of race and align himself with our German ally in this matter, too. But his most immediate motive was his desire to vivify the Italians’ sense of race and of racial dignity with regard to the natives in Italy’s new colonies. A further reason was the antifascist stance of international Jewry and in particular North-American Jewry. The racial question brings together inner, selective, cultural and ethnic problems. That is why Mussolini had encouraged the publication of the so called “Manifesto of Italian Racism” that contained ten or so points; a journal was founded, Difesa della Razza [The Defence of the Race], and later on two offices of race were created — one in the Ministry of Popular Culture and the other in the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Unfortunately, on the whole these measures were unsatisfactory. They had not been preceded in Italy by serious preparation and specific studies, and racial ideas were completely uncharted territory for Italian “intellectuals.” Thus, the group that had written the “Manifesto” and even the staff of Difesa della Razza was heterogeneous and hastily put together. Some anthropologists of the old scientistic school were put in the same bag with opportunistic journalists and writers who had stepped up for the occasion and had become racists overnight, as it were. The general impression they conveyed was one of amateurism, and too often petty controversy and slogans took the place of a serious and unified doctrine, a doctrine that should not have lost itself in biological specialism or vulgar anti-Semitism, but should ideally have presented itself as a coherent worldview and acted as a politically and ethically formative idea. I was personally moved to tackle this subject because of the less than flattering remarks I heard from abroad regarding Fascism’s handling of the racial issue. I began to extract from the traditional and aristocratic ideas to which I adhered, everything that could be deduced from them as a particular application to the issue of race, and thus could form an organic racial doctrine. Thus the first articles and notes appeared in various Fascist periodicals, and then the aforementioned book.

The central thesis, defended by me, was, in short, the following: with regard to man, the question of race cannot be discussed in the same terms nor have the same meaning as for a cat or a purebred horse. True men, beyond the biological and bodily element, are also soul and a spirit. Thus, comprehensive racism had to consider all three terms: body, soul, and spirit. Accordingly, one may speak of a racism of the first degree, concerned with purely biological, anthropological, and eugenic issues; next, of a racism of second degree, concerned with the “race of soul,” in other words the inner form of man’s character and emotional reactions; finally, of the crowning “race of spirit,” which is concerned with the supreme frontiers that differentiate men and make them unequal in their general world-view and notions of the beyond, of destiny, of life and of action, in other words, their “highest values.” The classical ideal, interpreted racially, is the harmony and unity of these three “races” in a superior type.

Mussolini accepted these views without hesitation. I cannot, like some memoir writers, quote the exact words spoken by the Duce. However, I can still relate in general terms the gist of what Mussolini told me, which showed that he was remarkably knowledgeable. “The conception of tripartite racism,” Mussolini said to me, “avoids the zoological conception and biologistic errors of German racism; it establishes the primacy of the spiritual values that are an essential part of our tradition and of the Fascist idea. Furthermore, it possesses great political value, since you have correlated the three aspects of the problem of race with the three parts of the human being distinguished by Aristotle. But it would actually be better to refer to Plato [here I dare say that I am repeating Mussolini word for word], who correlates those three parts with the three castes of the social corpus. The race of the body corresponds to the mass, to the demos, ‘which in itself is nothing, but is a force through which the dominators act’ [these were his exact words]; the race of soul could correspond to Plato’s ‘warriors’ or ‘guardians,’ while the race of the Spirit could correlate with the apex, the caste of thinkers, philosophers and artists.”

Actually, despite the alarmed signs of comrade[1] Pavolini, at this point I permitted myself to interrupt Mussolini and say: “Mind you, Duce, Plato would have banished from his state thinkers, philosophers, and artists in the modern sense. It is the sages — sophoi — something entirely different, that Plato placed at the top of his ideal state, not ‘intellectuals.’”

“Very well then, let’s say sages,” said Mussolini, smiling.

Note:

1. Evola writes “amico,” “friend,” the term used by Fascists in place of the term “comrade,” which was associated with the Communists.

TradYouth Goes to Stafford

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I also will forget thy children.

I don’t know about you all, but I’m sick and tired of rolling up into a herd of Confederate flag waving neo-Jacobins.

“What’s a neo-Jacobin” the uninformed lurkers of my blog may be asking? I’m glad you stayed behind your cloak of anonymity while asking, because it’s embarrassing that you don’t know. A “neo-Jacobin”, dear lurkers, is someone who has imbibed the cultural sludge Western Civilization has become since those regicidal maniacs your government school teachers fawned over conquered France in the 1790s.

These first of the Jacobins were inspired by their occultic and jewish ties to the devil – the details of that relationship need not concern us presently. They formed club houses all over France and advocated for the end of the monarchy, an end to the aristocracy, an end to Christianity, and an end to the medieval worldview and lifestyle that dominated Europe until their time. Basically, the Jacobins were the enemies of all that was good and right in the world. If this overview strikes anyone as naive, I ask forgiveness and note that Jacobin offspring are unable to focus on lengthy articles.
They conquered France but had their ideology checked by the conservative resistance of the time, the ideological father of which was Edmund Burke. Nevertheless, their poisonous ideology seeped through the veins of Europe and slowly inched its way into every nook and sainted crevice.

This slime made its way to America where it infested the Northern region, turning the once beautiful agrarian Yankeeland into a writhing, mechanized system of Satan. The Southern United States, however, lived more in the Burkean tradition, preferring to hold to the conservative and feudalist values of their ancestors.
Slavery, states rights, and all the other political issues of the 1860’s were mere pretenses of the inevitable clash between the old world and the new Jacobin monstrosity that clutched the West.

Long story short, the good guys lost and ever since, the neo-Jacobins have been indoctrinating southern school children via the government schools and pop-culture programs. Today, the best and brightest are spouting Jacobin rhetoric from their cribs. Even worse, since the government education system is designed to create plantation workers (not free-thinking men of the West), they’re not even aware of their own history.

Fast forward to the present, where, after the shooting in Charleston S.C., the new Jacobins are waging a mop-up operation to purge every last bit of the old Burkean worldview from their midst, tearing down Confederate flags and destroying our monuments as fast as they can. This has sparked an unprecedented wave of Southern pride throughout the region, resulting in more pro-flag rallies than reporters can keep up with.

But after having attended a few of these, in an official capacity as the N.C. Chairman of the Traditionalist Youth Network, I’m finding they’re less rallies against the devilish regime oppressing us, and more rallies to convince our rulers that our symbols have a small place at the neo-Jacobin table. But they’re Jacobin nonetheless. The protestors are riding joyfully off the proverbial cliff with the rest of Western civilization, they’re only asking for a few kind footnotes in the history books.

Well I don’t want a kind note in Jacobin history books.

With these thoughts in mind, I drove to the Stafford Virginia pro-Confederate flag rally. When I arrived, counter-protestors were already engaging with the flaggers. Being an experienced activist, I brushed through the crowd and made my way to a shouting black man, angry at our “ign’ance” … and began singing “Dixie” as loudly as possible. The flaggers immediately joined in. The black man began brushing his flag into my face, so I channeled my inner Heimbach and ripped it down. The man almost pissed himself. The other flaggers stepped back in awe. Neo Jacobins aren’t supposed to assert themselves in that way, after all; especially not against one of the black demigods. They were shocked.

The man’s female accomplice, a black woman in her forties, began arguing with me. They both asserted that if we didn’t like America, we ought to leave. I told them we tried that back in the 1860’s and they wouldn’t let us. They didn’t understand what I meant. They got the message when I began shouting at them, asking repeatedly if they wanted us to stay or leave? Make up your minds!

This sort of aggression couldn’t be tolerated by the neo-Jacobin flaggers, all of whom were stuck in retarded feedback loops… “Heritage not hate. We’re not racists. Heritage not hate. We’re not racists.”

One baby boomer pulled me aside and, after assuring me he was legit (he was related to John Wilkes Boothe), he said something like… “… come here for a second man, let me talk to you.” (As if he was pulling a crazy white boy away from the precious negro protesters so I wouldn’t give all the flaggers a bad name.) “Now, correct me if I’m wrong, but it sounded like you just said white culture was superior in some way…”
Well, by God, I just might have.

See you all at the next protest. And leave your cynicism at home. They might be neo-Jacobins, but a teenaged white boy, standing beside the humiliated Boothe’s ancestor, beamed with approval at my response and recognized the future when he heard it.

They can be reached…

Author's Note: None of my scathing criticisms of the Southern advocates apply to my friends in the League of the South, all of whom remain stalwartly unreconstructed in their outlook and fearless in their advocacy for our Southern symbols and identity. They’re far better off than the flag-waving neo-Jacobins who make up the bulk of the trending flag rallies.

Jewish Spy Jonathan Pollard Likely to Be Released Later This Year

via The Ugly Truth

THE ALGEMEINER – The U.S. Department of Justice is “seriously” considering the release of Jonathan Pollard later on this year, a source with knowledge of the matter revealed to The Algemeiner on Friday.

Pollard, who was jailed in 1987 after he admitted to passing classified information to Israel, would be released on Nov. 21 when he is eligible for parole, according to the source, who did not wish to be named due to the sensitivity of the matter.

The release would come at the 30th anniversary of his arrest and amid a number of reports in recent years of his ill health and hospitalization. Pollard will be 61 years old on Aug. 7 and is being held at a federal prison in Butner, N.C.

The source stressed that the release is not connected in any way to the Iran nuclear deal announced this week on Tuesday, which has been a major source of tension between the U.S. and Israel.

There will be “no special exemptions,” the source said.

Last November, a group campaigning for the release of Pollard said a parole board denied a request to free him after American officials said the release would send the wrong message, The Times of Israel reported. At the time, the group said it would release information pointing to the White House’s attempts to prevent Pollard from going free, according to the report.

Pollard canceled a parole board hearing at the last minute in April 2014 amid reports that his release could be secured as part of a political deal at the time to salvage U.S.-brokered peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians, The Times of Israel said.

Pollard is believed to be the only American ever to receive a life sentence for passing classified information to an ally of the United States. Israeli officials, American and Israeli activist groups, and American politicians who see his punishment as unfair have lobbied continuously for a reduction or commutation of his sentence.

The Surveillance Society and Freedom-Curbing Legislation Are Nothing New

via The Occidental Observer

The God Hermes slaying the hundred-eyed
monster Argus (figure on vase, c. 5th B.C.)
Q: Radar on the roads, security cameras at every street corner. One gets a big impression of being constantly under surveillance.  With the recently adopted law on intelligence gathering, how far can these freedom curbing measures still go?

A: The new law allows the installation of “black boxes” on internet networks and servers which operate with the technologies of “deep packet inspection” and which enable the monitoring of private conversations on the internet, as well as the interception and scanning of all communications the goal of which is to detect, by means of secretly kept algorithms, all “suspicious” words and every “unusual” behavior. This law also allows, without any need to seek court approval, the wiring up of homes, computer hacking in order to siphon off their contents, the use of portable “IMSI-catchers” (false antenna relays intercepting telephone calls in a specific perimeter), the “key loggers” (software for reading in real time what a person types on his keyboard), vehicle tagging, geolocation of people and objects, etc.

The “black boxes” also allow the analyses of all the “metadata “, that is to say, to keep track of all traces left behind by a person using the phone or the internet. Any data value, being proportional to the square of the data number to which it is connected, the growing collection of the “metadata” thus enables not only how to predict the behavior of a group of individuals with their specific characteristics, but also to prod into every aspect of citizens’ lives: their relationship, their mail, their social networking habits, their banking transactions, their travels, purchases, subscriptions, lifestyle, age, political views, etc.

Hence, this is no longer a matter of targeting someone; rather, it means crisscrossing the entire landscape. Despite the soothing assurances by the authorities, what we are witnessing is a massive surveillance of citizens, even though, the vast majority of them cannot be suspected of being linked with any offense. The emergency rule becomes the rule. Private life no longer exist and civil liberties are under threat of the law which set itself the objective to find out whether each of us knows people who know some people, who know some other people who are not “clean .” As the “republican” tradition demands we are now back at the Law of Suspects of 1793. With good reason citizens keep complaining about not being heard. Well, short of not being heard, they are now being listened to.

Q: We’ve known for a long time that citizens are always ready to give up freedom in exchange for a semblance of security. Hence the birth of the US Patriot Act. French Prime Minister Manuel Valls, in fact, uses the same argument: “it is the fight against terrorism.”  Last year, Benoît Hamon, added to it: “if you have nothing to hide there is no problem with being listened to.”

A: A historical reminder. On December 8, 1893, in order to avenge Ravachol [a “bomb-throwing anarchist”], who had been guillotined the previous year, the anarchist Auguste Vaillant detonated a bomb in the Chamber of Deputies, causing no casualties. A few days later, the deputies passed the anti-terrorism laws, soon to be known as the “villainous laws” (“lois scélérates”) “stipulating  the suppression of the freedom of the press and prohibiting any anarchist gathering, even if held  at a private place. The banker and the future French President Casimir Perier stated on that occasion that “freedom of speech does not apply to the enemies of civilization.” Sounds familiar? “Terrorism,” “civilization”, restriction of freedom, all of this can be found there. The “fight against terrorism” is only a pretext — albeit a very old one).  None of the measures that were taken pursuant to these new laws would have prevented the attacks from occurring over the recent months. By the way, one does not need to set out a trawl to catch a handful of sardines.

As to those who say it does not bother them because “they have nothing to hide”, they certainly deserve the “GPNC” (the Grand Prize of Citizens Naivety). These are the same idiots who watch televised games or who purchase lottery scratch cards at the tobacco store hoping to strike it rich. When uttering these words they give up, of their own volition, their freedom, without realizing that the reasons stipulated by this law (from “collective violence prevention” to that of “the reconstruction or maintenance of banned groups”) are extremely vague. Hence, under given circumstances these legal provisions can enable to place under police surveillance any joint action aimed at changing political, social and economic structure of the country, every social protest movement, all those having dissenting views, or those who took the liberty of  challenging, one way or another, the  established order, be they the Sivens demonstrators, or the  Notre-Dame-des-Landes protesters, or those taking part in the “Demonstration for All” (“Manif pour tous “).

Q: Our rulers are eager to listen to everyone; yet it is themselves who are also being listened to, particularly by the Americans. How should have the Presidential palace reacted to the recent revelations made by Julian Assange about it?

A: President François Hollande could have demanded that Washington immediately recall Jane D. Hartley, the US Ambassador to France. He could have granted asylum to Julian Assange and even to Edward Snowden. He could have announced that France would withdraw from all talks on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP). He did nothing. He is the vassal of the USA on which he depends now in order to conduct operations in which the French Armed Forces are engaged.  Ever since it joined NATO again, having lost all of it independence, France  stripped itself of any autonomous decision-making.

The Not-So-Dark Ages, Part 2

via traditionalRight

Part 1

In my previous essay, “The Not So Dark Ages“, I attempted to dispel certain myths and misconceptions about the Church’s relationship to science in the medieval and classical eras. The focus was primarily on the West. Now I shall be turning to the East. The atheist polemics nearly always deal with the Catholic church during this period, the fact that the Eastern Roman Empire centered in Constantinople and the Eastern Orthodox church which also resided there is so unknown as to not even be fodder for a polemic is a sign of the sad hand Byzantium has been dealt by history. The Eastern Roman Empire survived for another thousand years after the fall of the Western Empire. I will henceforward refer to the Byzantine Empire as the Roman Empire, since the Byzantines themselves never saw themselves as anything other than Roman and I will not use the term Eastern either since there was only one Roman Empire, even in 395 it had two joint emperors. It preserved much of the classical knowledge that was lost in the West and in its fall the last line of ancient Romans fled to Italy, and in the process aided the nascent Renaissance.

There is a pernicious falsehood that has been circulated by modern liberal scholars that it was the enlightened and scientific Saracens who in the dark ages gave learning to the rude and uncouth West. While there is some truth in it, that through the Arabic philosophers in Spain much learning was gleaned by the West and aided in the rise of Scholasticism, it is only a half-truth. For while the Saracens themselves were rude and uncouth barbarians pillaging the Roman Empire and the remains of the once proud Sassanid Dynasty, Constantinople, the seat of the Roman Empire, still was the leader in scholarship, its twin in the south, Alexandria, had a long history of Christian, as well as pagan scholarship. Furthermore the Persian imperial capital at Ctesiphon held the last remnants of the ancient pagan academy (in 529 AD the Emperor Justinian closed the academy and its scholars fled to the court of king Khosrau I). So with the vast ammount of pagan and Christian learning from Alexandria and Ctesiphon it was the Saracens who were the students and the Christians the teachers. If in later centuries the Saracens repaid their debt in scientific, philosophic, and mathematical discoveries let us not forget that they first paid homage to the scholars of Constantinople.

Before I discuss the great minds of the Eastern Church I feel compelled to explain a little of the importance of the Medieval Roman Empire and why it is so little regarded. The Medieval Roman Empire served two vital roles among many in service to the west: (1) it protected the nascent West from barbarian invasion and (2) preserved the light of learning in the sea of night brought on by the Germanic and later Saracen invaders. The number of invasions and invaders that assaulted the Medieval Roman Empire are too numerous to tell here, but suffice it to say there were three major enemies of the West that were either thwarted in their endeavor or as in the case of the later, succeed in a time when the West was strong enough to offer its own defense. The study of Byzantine history was quite popular in Bourbon France and 18th century Europe. It was the work of mean minds such as Voltaire and Gibbon, who in casting away the heritage of Christianity, spent their vitriol on defaming the Medieval Roman Empire. What was inaugurated by Deists was finished by Atheists, to such an extent that popular knowledge of the Medieval Romans is all but nonexistent.

In the 7th century a titanic class between Romans and Persians occurred in the near east, a war of such a scale had not been seen since the Punic Wars of republican Rome. The Persian armies at their apogee had overrun all of Roman Asia and Egypt. Though ultimately defeated by the military genius Heraclius and the stout defense of Constantinople, a formidable foe was prevented from threatening the weak and young West. The next foe would arise out of the ashes of the old, the Saracen threat would plague both the Roman Empire and the West for centuries to come, but the heaviest blows occurred on the stout walls of Constantinople where in 674-78 and 717-18 the Saracen armies were scattered in no small part due to the new weapon of Greek fire, which I will refer to later. Lastly the Turks who came in the 11th century and would ultimately overcome the Roman Empire, were delayed for centuries, which in turn bought time for the Hapsburgs to develop enough strength to rout the Turks at the gates of Vienna.

The second debt owed to the Eastern Christians is their preservation of ancient texts. We must not forget that there never was any dark age in the eastern Christendom. The Roman Empire continued on as it always had. It might not have had the luster and glory of Old Rome, but their love of the classics never abated and was safely persevered until its transmission to the West in 1453.

I will divide this period into three eras: the Lighthouse 476-867, the Macedonian Renaissance 867-1261, and the Palaeologean Renaissance 1261-1453. This is a somewhat coarse classification but I believe it fits the broad contours of Eastern Christendom’s scientific and philosophical contributions. The first period was simple enough: when all the lights of learning went out in the West and East due to two barbarian invasions, Constantinople alone stood as the beacon of light and learning to the western world. The second period includes not only the Macedonian Dynasty, but subsequent dynasties as well; the classification was more of an intellectual one than a dynastic one. The last period focuses on the last flourishing of Roman thought with the Palaeologeans until the fall of Constantinople to the Turks in 1453.

Before the Fall

As a preface to the latter scholars two Eastern luminaries who thrived before 476 deserve mention Anatolius of Laodicea (died July 3, 283 AD) and Nemesius a fourth century thinker.

Anatolius, an inhabitant of Alexandria and later Bishop of Laodicea, was gifted in mathematics, geometry, philosophy and astronomy. Due to his erudition, a request was made by the Alexandrians for him to start a peripatetic school in their city. Eusebius reports that during the siege of the Pyrucheium or Bruchium, Anatolius was able to negotiate with the besieging Romans to allow the women, the children and the elderly of the rebels to withdrawal from city unharmed. These were rebels who had supported the Arabian queen Zenobia in her uprising against Rome. We see the triumph of Christian charity over the barbarities of war. He is noted for his use of astronomy in calculating the precise date of Easter. It is notable that the neo-platonic luminary Iamblichus was a pupil of Anatolius.

Nemesis of Emesa, the city of which he was bishop, is notable for his early description of the nature of the circulation of blood. He appears to have anticipated the work of William Harvey by 1,500 years. Yet the imperfection of his knowledge and the ignorance of the importance of his discovery led it to fall into obscurity.

The Lighthouse 476-867

When the last Roman Emperor of the West was displaced by his master of arms, Odoacer, the last vestige of Roman political rule was gone and the long night of barbarism began. I have previously recounted the heroic efforts of isolated scholars in the West to stem the tide, but in the East there was no loss of learning. In fact classical learning, flourished in the Roman Empire of the 5th and 6th centuries.

Six luminaries of this period deserve mention: John Philoponus of Alexandria, Kallinikos of Hieropolis, Isidore of Miletus and Anthemius of Tralles, Hunayn ibn Ishaq and Qusta ibn Luqa.

John of Philoponus was an Alexandrian polymath who studied philology, Aristotelian philosophy and Christian theology. His scientific work can be divided into three areas: (1) broad scientific theory, (2) the study of space, and (3) the study light. According to David C. Lindberg in his Science in the Middle Ages Philoponus based his scientific inquiry on three axioms (1) one God created the universe, (2) the heavens above and the earth below operate on the same basic principles, and (3) the stars are not divine. These principles would also have been shared by Jewish and later Islamic scholars. Philoponus’ surviving works indicate that he might have studied the world on the principles of the scientific method even using controlled experiments. Using such methods Philoponus concluded that the velocity of a falling object is independent of its weight, which predated Galileo by a thousand years. Philoponus rejected the standard Aristotelian definition of motion. Aristotle argued that an object moved only under two conditions: (1) a source of imparted motion to that object and (2) that source must be in physical contact with that source. Aristotle hypothesized that the air itself must impart motion to a flying object such as a stone or arrow. Philoponus reject this notion and argued that motion of an object could be imparted motion by the motive source, and that motive energy as it is dissipated propels the object forward. In this scenario the air hinders the motion of a flying object rather than aiding it. Philoponus disproved Aristotle’s view that objects of different weight fall at different velocities by performing the same sort of experiment that Galileo would uses a millennia later.

Philoponus disagreed with Aristotle on the plausibility of a void. Aristotle believed that a void was impossible in principle. Philoponus argued that the void might not be possible in nature, but was an essential postulate in order to explain motion in a plenum. On a related topic Philoponus argued that space should be viewed in three-dimensions. His work on light hinted at some of the discoveries of Maxwell and Einstein as his work on space had hinted on the discoveries of Galileo. Philoponus’ work was largely forgotten as a result of his nemesis Simplicius who condemned him for his monophyiste views, which in 681 got Philoponus anathematized, another victim of the religious infighting that plagued the Roman Empire.

Isidore of Miletus and Anthemius of Tralles should be as famous as Michelangelo and Da Vinci, but falling down the Orwellian memory hole first constructed by small minded deists like the rest of the Middle Ages they are not. These two engineers constructed the greatest architectural wonder of their age, Hagia Sophia (the Church of Holy Wisdom). Isidore was taught geometry and physics in Alexandria and later Constantinople, he was the first to organize Archimedes’ work into one complete volume. Anthemius was a geometrician and architect. Not only were these men gifted geometricians, but they were also master logisticians who were able to manage the tremendous logistical feat of bringing the materials necessary for constructing the church from around the Roman Empire and organizing the labor force to construct it. The finished church was the largest domed building in the world at that time.

Kallinikos of Heliopolis was a Syrian refuge who fled to the court of the Roman Emperor and offered his secret of what would later be known as Greek Fire, but was known to the Romans as Sea Fire. There are numerous explanations as to the chemical nature of Sea Fire, but we do know that naphtha was a key ingredient. This medieval “Napalm” would serve a vital role in repelling the Saracen siege of Constantinople in 674-8 and 717-18. This closely guarded state secret rendered Constantinople unconquerable by sea and by implication land (since it could never be starved into submission), until the Crusader siege of 1204 where the Venetian’s fleet of wooden galleys were coated with canvas and leather soaked in vinegar (one of the few means to retard Sea Fire, the other two being sand and urine) captured the city.

Hunayn ibn Ishaq a 9th century Assyrian Christian in the service of Caliph Al-Mutawakkil as the Caliph’s personal physician is notable for his study in ophthalmology and the translation of the works of Galen into Arabic. Ishaq’s Book of the Ten Treatises of the Eye was the most systematic account of eye and its functions yet given. He relied heavily on the works of Galen and contains the earliest known description of the anatomy of the eye. As personal physician to Caliph Al-Mutawakkil, Ishaq had his loyalty tested when the Caliph asked him to develop a poison for uses on the Ishaq’s enemies. Ishaq refused and was imprisoned for a year. When released, the Caliph confronted him again and threatened death if he did not perform the action. Ishaq still refused. The Caliph then revealed he had been testing the loyalty of his physician. The Caliph then asked Ishaq why he preferred death to creating the poison. Ishaq stated that he swore the Hippocratic Oath “to do no harm” and that his religion taught him to love enemies. We see again the triumph of Christian compassion in a dark age of barbarism and war. Ishaq’s voluminous translations of Greek philosophical and scientific texts in to Arabic garnered him the title of “Sheik of the Translators.”

Qusta ibn Luqa, a contemporary of Ishaq, a Melkite Christian and a master physician and translator was a key element of the Greek-to-Arabic translation that took place in the 9th and 10th centuries. While he translated into Arabic many Greek works on medicine, mathematics and geometry, he also wrote many original treatises of his own. Luqa’s De Differentia Spiritus et Animae was one of the few works not written by Aristotle that was on the reading list of natural philosophers in the University of Paris in 1254. The Islamic scholar Ibn al-Nadim says of him: “He is an excellent translator; he knew well Greek, Syriac, and Arabic; he translated texts and corrected many translations. Many are his medical writings.” As we saw in the west with the Irish and Anglo-Saxons so we see in east with Syriac Christians that it was the servants of Christ who exerted the greatest effort in preserving the classics.

The Medieval Roman Empire was the first political system to have institutionalized medical services. The first hospital was created by St. Basil in the 4th century. The church as always led the way in this effort. As I noted in my previous essay the Monastic institutions played an invaluable part in propagating hospitals and medical institutions. While it is true that classical Rome had medical institutions they were primarily military in nature and service. With the Christian system it was open to all. At first the urban centers were where the majority of these hospitals were located, but by the 9th and 10th centuries such institutions had become common in the rural areas as well. We see an organized process of education of physicians from the University of Constantinople. These hospitals were run on relatively ‘modern’ principles; physicians were required to wash their hands, patients were given private beds and instructions were given to keep the patients warm. By the 12th century separate rooms for outpatients and surgery were present. Of all Medieval Roman institutions that most resembled modern ones, the hospital system was that institution.

The Macedonian Renaissance 867-1261

While not as self-consciously organized as the Carolingian Renaissance, the Macedonian renaissance marks a flourishing of Medieval Roman art, literature and science. Under the patronage of the Emperors Leo VI “The Wise” and his son Constantine the arts flourished. One could say that Patriarch Photius I the teacher of Leo was the originator of this revival in learning and with him we shall begin our study. We shall also discuss Leo the Mathematician and Michael Psellous.

Photius I was one of the most influential patriarchs in all of the history of Constantinople; his erudition and philosophic learning have been marred by power struggles and theological disputes culminating in the Photian schism, his episcopacy and the schism named after him are not our present concern, but rather his invaluable contribution to the preservation of the classics. His magisterial work was the Bibliotheca or alternatively titled the Myriobiblos. The Bibliotheca is a collection of fragments and reviews of classical and Christian works that Photius read and preserved. Thanks to Photius’ preservation what we have of the works of Ctesias, Memnon of Heraclea, Conon, Diodorus Siculus, and Arrian we owe in part or in whole to him.

Leo the Mathematician was a 9th century polymath adept at philosophy, mathematics, geometry and medicine. He was considered a national security asset, so when Caliph Al-Ma’mun asked for Leo to study in Baghdad, the Emperor Theophilous granted Leo a school in the Magnaura (a philosophical school) in order to prevent him from leaving the empire and serving its enemies. Leo was a teacher of Aristotelian logic, a collector of a wide variety of scientific and philosophical works. His practical accomplishments were a series of signal beacons he designed in Asia Minor in order to warn of impending Saracen invasion and a series of mechanical devices placed in the imperial palace to inspire onlookers.

Michael Psellos was an 11th century scholar who wrote works of history, grammar, philosophy and rhetoric. His work the Chronographia is a historical account of the Roman Empire in the preceding century. His love of Platonism was so great that it led people to question his orthodoxy, which required his public profession of it to sway them. He restored a certain level of rigor in philosophical studies that had been lacking. He wrote on astronomy, music and medicine.

Palaeologean Renaissance 1261-1453

The actual origins of the Palaeologean Renaissance are debated; it is generally seen to have been precipitated by the re-conquest of Constantinople from the Crusaders. When in 1204 the Fourth Crusade sacked and conquered Constantinople, the Roman Empire was divided into two regions, the Despotate of Epirus and the Empire of Nicea. For nearly sixty years the Crusader Latin Empire looted what was left of the Roman Empire. When the Emperor of Nicea Michael VIII Palaiologos re-conquered Constantinople in 1261 the Roman Empire was restored and the newly invigorated people entered into their last cultural flowering. This new Palaeologean culture was focused on theological mysticism, more realism in paintings and the study and preservation of classical Greek texts. We shall discuss the work of two Palaeologean scholars, Nicephorus Gregoras and Maximus Planudes.

Maximus Planudes, a 13th century scholar, was known for his accomplishments in literature and mathematics. Unique among the Palaelogean scholars, Maximus was fluent in Latin. He translated Augustine’s City of God and Caesar’s Gallic Wars into Greek and many other classical and medieval Latin works, and his edition of the Greek Anthology was widely renowned (a collection of epigrams from classical and medieval Greek sources). Maximus two works on mathematics are The Great Calculation According to the Indians was a treatise on Hindu numerals in their Persian form and a commentary on Diophantus (a 3rd century AD Alexandrian mathematician) “Arithmetic.”

Nicephorus Gregoras was a 14th century scholar whose accomplishments were in the realm of theology, history and astronomy. His career and legacy were marred by his opposition to the dominant theology of Hesycasm and he was at odds with Queen Anna and Emperor John VI Cantacuzene. He later retired as a monk still attacking what he considered the Hesycasm heresy. His work “Roman History” was a work divided into 37 books covering the period between 1204 and 1359. Due to certain deficiencies in the work, it should be read alongside John Cantacuzene’s own works of history. His astronomical work pertains to the dating of Easter, the use of the astrolabe and prediction of solar eclipses.

Conclusion

We have seen the rich intellectual history of Eastern Christianity and that far from destroying classical civilization as the ilk of Carl Sagan would have you believe, it was the bosom in which classical civilization was preserved. The Italian renaissance was greatly enriched by the Greek emigres after the fall of Constantinople to the Turks in 1453. With the fall of the “City of the World’s Desire”, the last bulwark against Islam had fallen and in the succeeding centuries Turkish forces would spread fire and sword from Austria to Ukraine. The influx of Greek emigres did not, as was formerly thought, initiate the renaissance, but their erudition and learning certainly enriched it. It all comes full circle; the ancient Roman civilization that survived in Constantinople sent its own back to Italy and in the process greatly aided in the work of rediscovering the classic texts and improving upon them.

The Trump Tempest and the Turbulance of American Politics

via Alternative Right

The Donald, blowing hard!
Donald Trump has long been interested in running for President. In 2000 he sought the nomination of the Reform Party, and he also floated the idea of running as a Republican in 2004 and 2012. In all these cases, nothing ultimately happened, but last month, when he announced his intention to run and made some off-the-cuff remarks about illegal immigrants, support for his campaign caught on like wildfire.

Political analysis can point to a lot of factors. As Greg Johnson indicated on a recent Daily Shoah podcast, the real “sweet spot” in American politics is a combination of social conservatism and economic populism. This is the combination that would please the greatest number of voters and could ensure a permanent super majority.

Despite this, neither of the main parties attempt to do the logical thing and combine the two. The Democrats spout economic populist rhetoric but reject social conservatism in favour of degeneracy, while the Republicans spout social conservative rhetoric while driving full-steam-ahead towards globalism and the death of the American middle class.

This means that there is always enormous potential for any party or candidate that can exploit this sweet spot. Compared to everyone else running, Trump comes closest. He is reasonably conservative on social issues, while his comments about building a wall to stop illegals and his criticism of globalist trade deals with Mexico and China mark him out as an economic populist.

Economic populism
When he floated the idea of running for president in 2012, his political profile was mainly associated with his demands for President Obama to release his birth certificate, not a particularly promising area of political campaigning and nowhere near the sweet spot. This time, however, he has hit upon issues of much greater importance to the average American voter – illegal immigration and economic globalization.

Looked at in this way, it seems easy to explain Trump’s progress to the front of the Republican field. But it is not quite as simple as that.

As we on the real right are very aware, race-related issues like immigration and economic globalization tend to be ring-fenced and carefully managed by the media because of their dangerous populist appeal. This ensures that normal political candidates tend to steer clear of them, while those that don’t – Pat Buchanan for example – are cut down at every subsequent opportunity with snark and snide insinuations of Manichean racism. In short, these issues can be a political desert for any ambitious politician.

Trump, however, has veered straight into this dangerous territory, and is growing stronger every day. This is not normally in the script. Something else must have changed. Trump, it seems, is tapping into an additional source or power. But what exactly is it and where is it coming from?

A readily accessible introduction to Socionomics, describes something called “social mood”:
“Social mood is the net emotional state of people in a society at any given time. It swings between positive and negative poles, each of which comprise numerous related emotions. The belief that social events shape social mood is deeply ingrained. However, social mood follows a natural course that is independent of external events. Although most people believe the opposite, it is social mood that motivates social actions.”
My guess is that Trump is benefitting from a new kind of social mood in the country, and that this social mood is essentially reactionary, in that it is a displaced reaction to so much else that has been happening in recent months.

Last year, on the Alt-Right podcast, with our special guests Michael Enoch and Richard Spencer, we decided that 2014 was the “Year of the Dindu,” essentially the year of unjustified race-baiting activism on behalf of complete scumbags like Trayvon Martin and Mike Brown. The Ferguson Riots – essentially bought and paid for by the Jewish billionaire George Soros – and the Baltimore Riots, drove home the race-baiting narrative.

Following this, we had high-profile cases of transgenderism and tranracialism in the guises of Bruce Jenner and Rachel Dolezal, and then the decision by the Supreme Court to impose homosexual marriage from above. Both of these anti-White and anti-sexual agendas were driven by a synergy of mainstream liberal media with small, but virulent cadres of SJWs operating through social media.

The internet tends to privilege the views of those who are less engaged in normal social life, i.e. those who are not working or engaged in raising families. This is essentially what SJWs are – freaks who spend too much time on the internet because they can. Their interests and views naturally diverge drastically from those of the great silent majority of busy, family people, who remain socially conservative.

But this is the engine that has been pushing race and gender issues in these new and disturbing directions. Added to this, has been the concerted campaign against the Confederate flag, following the Charleston Church Shooting. Again, small, vociferous groups, with undue influence, have either served as the shock troops of the establishment or pushed the establishment to follow their lead.

The result of all this is that, on central issues like race, gender, and Southern identity, the silent majority – the vast number of ideologically unfocused people who lack the means to directly fight back against the gentle cajoling of the mainstream media and the shrill tactics of SJWs – have found their noses pushed increasingly out of joint, and have been forced to go in directions they are far from happy with.

The meteorology of politics
This has created a vast supply of displaced and unfocused anger and energy that the Trump campaign has perhaps unwittingly tapped into. The analogies of a lightning rod or air turbulence spring to mind. With nowhere else to go, this nebulous psychic energy has been converted into an errant force that tugs against the system of carefully constructed political windbreaks set up by the reigning duopoly to deflect attention from the real issues.

Thanks to Trump's conjuring up of this wild spirit, the ring-fencing around the racially sensitive issues of illegal immigration, immigration, and globalism has been successfully breached for the time being.

Despite the obvious common sense of attending to the existential issues of the American people, the rise of Donald Trump probably couldn’t have happened without the pimping of Mike Brown as a saint, Bruce Jenner as a woman, Rachel Dolezal as a Negro, and the Confederate battle flag as a psycho killer. In short, the Left has been overplaying its hand and now faces the prospect of having its card table overthrown, and being railroaded out of town.
