On Indulgence

In the world of mixed martial arts, something big happened very recently. The state of New York finally decided to legalize professional cage fighting. MMA organizations like the UFC have been lobbying for the legalization of their sport in New York for years now. And by a vote of 113 to 25 in the New York State Assembly, the ayes finally had their way.

This is all well and good if you like MMA, and it more or less belongs under the radar for everybody else. But something truly interesting was revealed when a website called mmajunkie.com published footage of the highs points and low points of the New York assemblymen debating the bill. Aside from some truly bizarre argumentation (one openly gay congressman objected to the sport by calling it “gay porn with a different ending”), a black assemblyman by the name of the Honorable Charles Barron from Kings County stood up and revealed his ignorance and stupidity thusly:

Firstly, as an African-American, we’ve been in cages fighting on the plantations and other places, and people let . . . bite off each other’s ears and do all kinds of things until they regulated that and made it something different. But throwing two human beings in a cage, and you know how we used to say in our neighborhoods, you should have a fair fight? Even when the man is knocked down, when I grew up, you’re supposed to step back, let him get up and let’s start over again. This one, you can pounce on them, beat his or her brains out while on the floor, choke him – you know how we feel about the choke hold in New York City – put him in a choke hold, and then the ref has to be determining whether he got choked enough. It’s not something we should legalize or regulate. It should be banned.

Of course, this statement is ridiculous on so many levels. This issue has nothing to do with race, and here we have a black lawmaker using convoluted logic and a fuzzy understanding of history to make it about race. He also somehow absurdly equated choking techniques in MMA to how the NYPD choked Eric Garner in July 2014, as if one might influence the other.

It occurred to me after listening to this that black people just can’t help themselves, can they? For them, or at least for the ones with the will to power, everything has to be about race. Their race and no other. This is how it is everywhere. All the time. This is their way of achieving equality with whitey and exerting influence over him. Whites may have nimbler minds and greater wealth and success, but blacks have two things whites don’t have: blackness and slavery. And they wield both with all the subtlety of a Louisville Slugger upon whites to get what they want.

That they are willing to inappropriately insert their race into any topic like kleptomaniacs before an unattended candy counter reveals a serious pathology, but not so much among the blacks, who really don’t know any better and, frankly, can’t be blamed too much for resorting to a fruitful tactic. No, the pathology exists among the whites who let them get away with it.

In essence, whites indulge their minorities, especially the black ones. For example, if a white New York assemblyman were to stand up and say, “Well, as a white person whose ancestors abolished slavery in New York in 1799 and fought and died for the Union during the Civil War, I’m offended that the honorable gentleman representing the 60th District besmirches my people by likening current MMA fighters to slave owners,” he would be roundly booed and ridiculed of making such off-topic statements. He’d also be called a racist and would have a hard time finding donors who’d want to be associated with him during his next reelection campaign.

Meanwhile, when black lawmakers say things that are even more off-topic, whites just sit there and nod solemnly like chastened children at Sunday school. That is indulging. It is the practice of applying much, much lower standards (moral, intellectual, and otherwise) to one group of people than to another.


We all know this, of course, but if we can zoom out a bit, we can see where this indulgence is taking us in the grand scheme of things. We can draw a straight line from the kind of seemingly benevolent leniency exhibited in the New York Assembly to what recently happened in Brussels.

Did you hear that last year Turkey handed over Ibrahim el Bakraoui, one of the suicide bombers who struck Brussels this week, to Belgian authorities and warned them about the man’s terrorist ties? The Belgians let him go free anyway.

Indulgence.

Did you hear about how the mayor of Cologne was advising German women to alter their behavior to be more modest around Arab men so as not to get raped?

Indulgence.

Did you hear about how British authorities, afraid of being called racists, ignored for years the fact that Pakistani men were raping white girls in Rotherdam?

Indulgence.

How about how black crime rates in this country are under-reported both by the police and the media? How about how the Obama administration pressured the FBI to not call the San Bernardino mass shootings an act of terrorism? For that matter, how about how Bill Clinton had the opportunity to capture Osama bin Laden in the 1990s and didn’t?

Indulgence.

There is real pain being inflicted on real people in very large numbers. Yet we continue to indulge.

Whites hold themselves to a much higher standard than they hold almost everybody else. And this didn’t start with rape, crime, and terror. Once upon a time, whites had zero patience for that sort of thing, and if justice couldn’t be served in the legal way, they would resort to the extralegality of a rope and a tree to get the job done (and this happened to whites over a quarter of the time). Remember also how swiftly whites responded in 1898 to the presumed terrorist attack on the Maine?

No, this nonsense started in calmer, more peaceful settings, like in the New York Assembly where whites simply cede the field to blacks and other nonwhites when it comes to important issues of the day. (Why, yes, of course we should ban mixed martial arts because your ancestors bit each other’s ears off in fictitious cages on plantations in the antebellum south! What were we thinking bringing up this racist bill to begin with?)

It’s as if whites have no answer to the race card, and whenever it is played they simply fold and watch as their enormous wealth gets stolen from them bit by bit. When they do this, the blacks and other minorities smell weakness and continue the vicious farce. And they will never, ever, stop.

Until we stop them.

Whites have to stop being weak. Whites have to stop indulging blacks and other nonwhites. We have to start saying no to these people. And by doing so in peaceful settings, for instance in places like the New York Assembly, we will be more prepared to say no to them in the future when things aren’t so peaceful.

The World's Most Successful Revolutionary Ideology

Such was the decrepit Moslem world which faced nineteenth-century Europe, energized by the Industrial Revolution, armed as never before by modern science and invention which had unlocked nature's secrets and placed hitherto-undreamed-of weapons in its aggressive hands. By the terms of the treaties which marked its close, Turkey was extinguished and not a single Mohammedan state retained genuine independence. The subjection of the Moslem world was complete—on paper.
On paper! For, in its very hour of apparent triumph, Western domination was challenged as never before. During those hundred years of Western conquest a mighty internal change had been coming over the Moslem world. The swelling tide of Western aggression had at last moved the "immovable" East. At last Islam became conscious of its decrepitude, and with that consciousness a vast ferment, obscure yet profound, began to leaven the 250,000,000 followers of the Prophet from Morocco to China and from Turkestan to the Congo. The first spark was fittingly struck in the Arabian desert, the cradle of Islam. Here at the opening of the nineteenth century, arose the Wahhabi movement for the reform of Islam, which presently kindled the far-flung "Mohammedan Revival," which in its turn begat the movement known as "Pan-Islamism." Furthermore, athwart these essentially internal movements there came pouring a flood of external stimuli from the West—ideas such as parliamentary government, nationalism, scientific education, industrialism, and even ultra-modern concepts like feminism, socialism, Bolshevism. Stirred by the interaction of all these novel forces and spurred by the ceaseless pressure of European aggression, the Moslem world roused more and more to life and action. The Great War was a shock of terrific potency, and to-day Islam is seething with mighty forces fashioning a new Moslem world. What are those forces moulding the Islam of the future?

Mahommed ibn Abd-el-Wahhab is a name that is not particularly well known today in the West. Conversely, (((Marx))), the founder of Communism as we recognize it, is a man whose name everyone is familiar with. Despite his reputation, and continued influence, Marxism's first child Communism is everywhere dead or dying. Russia and Eastern Europe have openly abandoned it, China has morphed it into a sort of "state capitalism" under the guidance of Deng Xaioping, and in North Korea Communism has morphed into a bizarre cult around the ruling family. Communism has fallen from its perch as the world's most successful revolutionary ideology.

What is replacing Communism's claim to that title is another set of beliefs that bears the name of its founder—Wahhabism.

Wahhab was born around 1700, in the Najd, center of the Arabian Penninsula, where the Turks had not established their authority. It was there in the deserts of central Arabia, where the Bedouin practiced the same way of life and same way of worship as they had for centuries, that Wahhab grew up.

Wahhab was both intelligent and devout, and as a young man set out to learn. His travels took him as far as Iran. Wahhab returned to his simple homeland in much the same state as Luther had returned to Germany after visiting Rome. Wahhab was incensed by the decadence and immorality that he had seen. Outside of the deserts of Arabia, the Islamic world was decadent and decrepit. The Muslim world Wahhab had observed was far from the austerity preached by Mohammed. So Wahhab began to preach a return to the ways of early Islam. Wahhab wanted to be rid of the ceremony and the buildup that had come after Mohammed. Austerity, simplicity, and devotion were the be the watchwords of Wahhabism.

Wahhab achieved only one thing of note in the realm of politics during his life time, and that is the conversion of the head of the house of Saud (yes, that Saud) to Islamic revival. Yet despite this, Wahhab's teachings shook the Muslim world to the core. The Saudis used their influence to turn the Arabian Peninsula into a centre of Wahhabism. Muslims would go on their pilgrimage to Mecca and their encounters with Wahhabist clerics would often turn them into zealots for the cause of Islamic revival and they would return home as preachers of this new but ancient form of Islam.

From then on, all of Western man's material victories over the Islamic world were moral victories for the preachers of Wahhabism. Every loss suffered by the decadent Muslim world awoke the fiery fanaticism that lay sleeping in the heart of Islam. Every defeat was a painful reminder of how far the Islamic world had fallen.

The contrary force that challenges pan-Islamism is Arab nationalism, whose chief standard bearers were the Ba'athist parties. Ba'ath means "revival," and this is what they sought for the Arabs through revolutionary, secular, and socialist one-party states. Ba'athism has been put on the defensive. Libya and Iraq, both former homes to Ba'athist dictators, have now become home to Wahhabi radicalism, including ISIS, thanks to American intervention at the behest of the (((neocons))) and (((AIPAC))). Only the besieged Assad remains in Syria, where it remains to be seen which ideology will triumph.

Both Iraq and Libya should have taught Western leaders what was obvious from the start; imposing Western, liberal democracy on the Muslim world was never going to work. The realistic choice was to support either Ba'athism or Wahhabism.

By joining (((Israel))) and Saudi Arabia against the Ba'athists and the Shias, the United States has de facto sided with Wahhabism even if they officially condemn it. The Shias have rarely attacked the West directly, yet the Western world sides with the Sunnis, including the Wahhabi-promoting Saudis, over the Shias. This is partly due to American ties with Sunni fighters dating back to the Cold War, but it's mostly due to the reality that American foreign policy isn't meant to benefit Americans.


​America is effectively opposed to Wahhabism's primary enemies within the Islamic world, and has already done much to ensure that Ba'athism is not the ideology that the Arab world will march into the future under. It increasingly seems like the puritanical Wahhabists will dominate Islam's future.

Wahhabism has not been slowed or weakened by the prevailing centuries between its founding and the current day. The recent attacks in France and Belgium show that there are coordinated cells working inside of Europe. The chaos in the Middle-East has allowed large amounts of weaponry to fall into the hands of Sunni Muslims, much of which has in turn been smuggled into Muslim districts in European cities. Many wealthy Saudis fund these groups. Islamic radicalism is growing not just in the Middle East, but everywhere from Xinjiang in eastern China to Libya to Dagestan to Brussels. Radical Islam is becoming a global force at the same time that Muslims are experiencing a population boom both inside and outside their historic homelands.

The claim that Wahhabists aren't true Muslims is rather laughable when Islamic history is considered. The Wahhabists are a sect of Islam that believes that the only teachings that they can base human activity on are those of the Quran and the hadith. Unlike many Sunnis, they don't go to "saints" or shrines for intercessions; they believe that to be a form of polytheism. They truly emphasise that there is no God but Allah.

Despite this devotion to what is found in the Quran, and a commitment so great that Muslims will suicide bomb their targets, and historical precedent for these behaviours, jihadists aren't real Muslims, you see, because they're only using religion as a cover for.....for uhhh.....uh...profits....that they get from banning luxurious lifestyles....and....uh....you know....

The claim that a reformist group whose stated goal is a return to the simplicity of early Islam isn't really Muslim and that Muslims who believe in liberalism are real Muslims is a pretty lie that Westerners tell themselves to comfort their world-view when it is shaken by fire and death in Paris and Brussels.

It is a claim made by Westerners who are so apathetic and nihilistic that they can't imagine that there are people on the planet who live for something other than material gain.

Radical Muslims in Europe are more likely to be from the educated and wealthy section of society, and born inside the country. Radical views are also more likely to be held by younger Muslims than older ones.



"Radical Islam" isn't going anywhere because radical Islam is the core of Islam. Moderate Muslims are like moderate Catholics; they were born into it, so they call themselves by that title, but they're indifferent to the teachings. A Catholic who believes that abortion and divorce are acceptable isn't a moderate Catholic, he's a bad Catholic.

That is why Wahhabism is the most successful revolutionary ideology on the planet today. It knows no boundaries, no national borders, and its teachings are simple. Islam itself means "submission", and that's what ISIS, and Al-Qaeda, and the Brussels attackers want. They want the submission of the world to the teachings of Mohammed, and this clear and simple message is giving a fiery purpose to a generation of young Muslim men who are having something awoken in them that can't be stopped by democracy, or "love", or peace initiatives, or job opportunities, because it is a reawakening of the driving force behind Islamic civilization.

Wars in the Middle-East have contributed to Sunni radicalism, but they didn't start it. The ongoing Islamic revival has been 250 years in the making.

The rest of the world is going to learn this lesson the easy way or the hard way, but they will learn it. We don't yet have an answer to this force, but we will. The Western world has very little driving force behind it, and nihilism is the most common attitude to be found, but just as Europe's successful incursions into the Islamic world awoke a lethargic civilization that was sunk in hedonism to a state of righteous fury, Europe's revival will come thanks to attacks like those we have seen in the past few years.

Sunni Islam's success is what will eventually stop it. For every advance it makes in Europe it will create a reaction. The number of Muslims inside Europe will continue to grow, and they will become more confident and demanding until Europe can ignore it no longer.

So in a way we ought to be thankful for the principle of action and reaction. Our race could die in its sleep, not with a bang, but with a whimper, killed by demographic collapse and mass migration. The Wahhabists are doing their part to make sure that doesn't happen. As much success as they may have in their countries, every 9/11, every Charlie Hebdo, every massacre in Paris or Brussels rouses the men and women in Western civilization who have slept so long.

Confessions of a German Police Chief

German police chief Tania Kambouri’s Deutschland im Blaulicht: Notruf einer Polizistin (Germany in Blue Light: A Policewoman’s Distress Call) describes her law enforcement experiences mainly in what are known in Germany as parallel societies. (“Blue light” refers to emergency services, including the police.) These are Muslim-majority areas where Western norms are not respected. Miss Kambouri works in Bochum in Nordrhein-Westfalen, a region with an above-average number of Muslims. She discusses not only a blatant lack of respect but physical assaults on police officers, mostly by young men with origins in Muslim countries. She also describes the atmosphere of political correctness that makes it difficult to speak publicly about these things. She takes pains to avoid appearing “racist” or “prejudiced,” but her account throws light on the ethnic aspects of the problem.

Miss Kambouri seems to have struck a nerve. Her book was the number-one title for four weeks on Der Spiegel’s list for paperback non-fiction.

Miss Kambouri is of non-Germany ancestry herself; her parents immigrated from Greece, and she is often mistaken for a Turk or other Middle Easterner. She even mentions that her best friend is Turkish and, by implication, a Muslim. This makes it harder to accuse her of xenophobia.

It also gives her an unusual perspective. Miss Kambouri says she knows only one Turkish phrase, since she hears it several times a day: “Turk müsün?” (Are you Turkish?). Turks–and other Middle Easterners–ask her if she is one of them, in the hope of getting special treatment. For them, loyalty to their extended family comes above the rule of law, a pattern familiar throughout the Third World but alien to Germans.

According to the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees, there are between 3.8 and 4.3 million Muslims in Germany, about half of whom are German citizens. (The Pew Research Center cites a 2010 estimate of 4.8 million, and some sources put the current figure at 5.8 million.) Turks are by far the largest group of Muslims in Germany, but make up less than 40 percent of the total. Others come from the Middle East, North Africa, and Southeastern Europe. Muslims are therefore about 5 percent of the total population, but Germans think the figure is far higher. Survey respondents generally estimate Muslims at about 20 percent of the population.

This is probably because of the “conspicuous behavior” of many young Muslim men, and their overrepresentation in crime. An estimated 80 percent of violent youth offenders in Berlin are of Turkish or Arab descent. Half of Muslims in Germany are below age 25, so many are in the high-crime age range. The problem does not go away with more time spent on German soil; like American Hispanics, second- and third-generation immigrants are more prone to crime than the first generation.

Miss Kambouri is open about the appalling behavior of Muslim men. She writes that they physically attack the police and call up mobs to interfere with police activity. She also notes that immigrant offenders often play the race card, accusing the police of stopping them only because of their foreign appearance, and that this intimidates many officers. Apparently, it does not intimidate her; she defends stereotypes. As she puts it, although each person is an individual, “you will see the same behavior over and over in certain groups–stereotypes sometimes develop not entirely unjustly, not everything is a matter of malicious prejudices [all translations are my own].” (page 44).

Miss Kambouri describes something similar to the broken-windows theory of policing, which inspired New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani in the 1990s: If police tolerate low-level infractions such as vandalism or breaking windows, it sends the signal that the area is not being watched by the authorities. This encourages an atmosphere of lawlessness in which both petty and serious crimes become more likely.

Miss Kambouri finds a similar pattern in the conduct of Muslim men towards the police. She writes that they curse at her and make provocative gestures, as if daring her to approach them. She says this is a way of testing the power dynamic. If the police show signs of weakness–and indifference is a sign of weakness–men take this as an invitation to be more aggressive in the future.

This can lead to assaults on the police, which are far from rare in certain neighborhoods. Miss Kambouri refers to a study of her own state that found that half of all officers have been subject to at least one violent assault. When the police are already held in low regard, ignoring minor provocations undermines their authority and can lead to serious consequences.
Attacked


Miss Kambouri describes greater separation between ethnic groups than even that found in the United States. Muslims not only have a different conception of justice that condones violence in defense of “honor;” they set up parallel judicial authorities. Muslim Friedensrichter, or “magistrates,” settle disputes among Muslims based on sharia law. These magistrates have no legal status, but are regarded as the legitimate authorities by many Muslims. Friedensrichter do not even have any particular qualifications; instead their positions are often passed down from father to son for generations.

Miss Kambouri concedes that there are benefits to these courts; they often reach decisions much more quickly than German courts. The participants often then consider the matter closed and refuse to accept the jurisdiction of German courts. An estimated 90 percent of crimes committed in Muslim communities are not even reported to the German authorities. This saves costs in the justice system but, as Miss Kambouri notes, it makes a mockery of national law. She thinks these parallel-system judges should be punished, both for circumventing German law and for any crimes they may have covered up.

Miss Kambouri criticizes what she calls a fundamental error in German politics and society: the assumption that immigrants or refugees will simply integrate. She writes that many believe that migrants want “a free, open society and say yes and amen to everything because they think what is going on in our democracy is so great.” (37-38) Instead, many newcomers simply want a better standard of living and have no interest in Western culture or mores.

Miss Kambouri bemoans the widespread refusal to accept this fact and the constant desire to be politically correct. She denounces the tendency to use euphemisms to obscure real problems–a pathological trend at all levels of society. This stems from Germany’s past. Miss Kambouri writes that her colleagues are afraid to talk about the large number of foreign offenders because “the same old story with the Nazis” will be thrown in their faces. (218) As she puts it, the Germans of today can do nothing more about the murders done by the National Socialists than she can do about the Greek financial crisis.

Currently, criminals in Germany are categorized as having Migrationshintergrund (migration background) only if they are not citizens. Those born in Germany or who have acquired a German passport are “German,” regardless of whether they have any understanding of German culture or even speak German. The author explains that the police should be aware of the ethnicity of all perpetrators, because culture often explains motives. In its blindness to ethnicity, Germany is even more cowed than the United States. Our authorities obscure Hispanic crime rates, but at least accept that race is a relevant category for crime statistics.

Miss Kambouri has interesting observations about ethnic differences in criminal activity. Muslims are more prone to crimes of violence, including robberies, as well as offenses in defense of their traditional concept of honor. Refugees also fight among themselves and damage their publicly-provided housing to the point that it is uninhabitable.

Eastern Europeans–mainly Romanians and Bulgarians–are more likely to commit crimes requiring more forethought, such as various types of non-violent fraud or theft. One common scheme is to break into shops and steal nothing, but install modified credit-card readers that give access to the bank accounts of customers. Miss Kambouri also notes that Eastern European burglars seem to plan their escape routes precisely, and so can rarely be caught. Miss Kambouri also explains that professional, highly organized Eastern European gangs operate internationally. Muslim criminals are not as sophisticated.

Roma and Sinti (gypsies), are known for stealing copper wire out of electric fixtures in broad daylight. Miss Kambouri also reports that they gather in large numbers in hospitals, where they make noisy scenes over a sick relative, which disturbs hospital staff and other patients. When police come and ask them to leave they fight the police.

Though Miss Kambouri never says so, these different crime styles are exactly what we would expect from national and racial differences in IQ.

Explanations and justifications

Miss Kambouri’s explanations for immigrant crime are somewhat sympathetic to the immigrants but more nuanced than simply blaming a prejudiced society. She admits that many immigrants lack the will to integrate, but attributes this both to the immigrants themselves and to society. She says immigrants have unequal opportunities and are not well accepted (presumably by the mainstream). She does not, however, accept lack of education as an excuse. She writes that anyone who does not make use of Germany’s free schools are themselves to blame. Nor does she accept the victim mentality of blaming “incompetent teachers, xenophobic politicians, the state, the Germans, whoever.” (29-30)

Miss Kambouri also writes that the Muslim attitude towards women keeps Muslims from integrating into German society. She also decries the have an arrogant, black-and-white Muslim view of cultural differences. They are convinced of the superiority of their traditional ways and inflexible injunctions; they have no interest in adapting to the West. Muslim parents strongly oppose any kind of integration, especially for girls, who are taught simply to obey.

Miss Kambouri nevertheless goes out of her way to be somewhat politically correct. She insists that nothing she says should be interpreted as justification for prejudice or discrimination against any group. She writes that Germany “of course” needs immigrants because of its low birthrate, and that accepting refugees is a matter of course. She claims that immigrants, who are about 20 percent of the population, can be enriching. She cites a study that claims immigrants are a benefit for the welfare state–although the study is of immigrants overall, the vast majority of whom are not Muslim. Every time she mentions criminal behavior, she insists that environment shapes the offender’s worldview. She even argues that one of the worst consequences of immigrant crime is that it bolsters the positions the political right.

I have no reason to doubt Miss Kambouri’s mainstream sensibilities, and if she had not expressed them her book might not have been published at all, let alone taken seriously. Not only do Germans still have an ingrained horror of nationalism to a degree unusual even among Western nations, there are laws criminalizing Volksverhetzung or “incitement to hatred” that can be broadly interpreted. Nevertheless, her political correctness does not obscure any of the problems she describes.

When it comes to policy prescriptions, Miss Kambouri naturally wants more resources for the police. The number of officers has been decreasing while populations in the “parallel societies” are increasing. She would also establish reform schools for “at-risk” young people. She would also like mandatory school instruction in human rights–which she appears to think will change their attitudes towards women–and thinks children should be taken away from abusive parents. She believes that harsh measures, consistently and quickly applied, are the only way to improve behavior for some offenders.

To her credit, Miss Kambouri also mention the possibility of deporting some offenders, though she never proposes restricting the entry of Muslims. She insists that cultural differences are strictly due to environment, explicitly stating that “it is not the genes.” (189)

What is most important, however, is that this work represents a much-needed statement of the obvious about a crucial ethnic conflict, coming from someone with personal experience. Although many Germans can see from anonymous comments online that they are not the only ones who notice these things, Miss Kambouri’s work may carry more weight as a book from a prestigious publisher, Piper Verlag.

Miss Kambouri writes that hundreds of law enforcement personnel have contacted her to convey support, but it is still difficult to discuss these issues publicly. Not coincidentally, many Germans are unaware of the attitudes of many non-Western immigrants toward the wider society. For many years I have pursued the idea of the Coming Man - Wid-Ar the Avenger, HelgiH or The Hooded Man. This has become the object of my life's work and something deep and powerful has driven me on throughout this time - some Inner Force that I cannot explain. With the knowledge that there will arise a new Folk-Leader and Folk-Fuhrer sometime soon I would like to emphasise that we should not sit back and wait for this to happen, for it will only happen if we will it to happen and make it happen. But I would also like to go into another side of this, and that is that it is not only a single individual Divine Hero who will appear as a Folk-Leader, but more and more heroes of our Folk, willing to fight and to die for this great cause - the Sacred Blood Struggle. 

All around us we can see the destruction of our world, the destruction of the 'West'. Remember the great speech given by Aragorn before the Gates of Mordor, when he mentioned that this was not the end of the West? Well, it was not, because this happened at the end of the Third Age, and we today are at the end of the Fourth Age, when it clearly is the end of the West. This is the end of what we call 'Western Civilisation' and such an ending will come through disorder and chaos - the world will be plunged into the Primordial Chaos. Lord of the Rings was archetypal myth, that which is timeless and played out in the past-present-future, and not just at one point of time. The world is today being plunged into anarchy.

This state of affairs should not matter to those who have already prepared their minds for what has come about; anarchy and chaos should be welcomed since this is not in itself an end, but is a particular phase in this archetypal myth. Only through a state of anarchy and chaos can arise The Man To Come. Only through a state of anarchy and chaos can arise the Age of Heroes. This civilisation must fall! A state of barbarism will arise as it does so, and we must become barbarians again in the image of Conan the Barbarian. What is happening is a 'trial by fire' and this will sort the 'wheat from the chaff'. 

We can understand the unfolding events of Europe through a look at a Celtic source related to a figure called Mabon. Mabon is a servant of Sovereign, the Goddess of the Land. He is the 'Long-Awaited One' and the Divine Child of the Dawn'. His mother is Modron who enables his birth into physical form through lying with a mortal man - he is thus a Divine Hero. He appears at a time of crisis, and his role is to bring order out of chaos, to bring truth and justice once more to a dying world. All of the forces of the Old Order are arrayed against him, because they know that their time is up. The title 'Mabon' means 'Son' and his archetype is the Archetype of Ingwe. 

Just as all the forces of the Old Order are arrayed against Mabon, so they are against us today. We accept this, indeed we welcome this because it makes us see the need to stand firm against overwhelming odds. It means that only the strong and brave will come through these trials - the Survival of the Fittest. The enemies of Mabon always try to imprison or sacrifice him because he is incorruptible, pure and bears the truth within him; yet he cannot be overcome unless he gives himself into the hands of his enemies. Mabon is our own Ingwe, but more, for he represents the Divine Hero in all his manifestations, the Heroes of our Folk who arise today to continue the Great Struggle. 

The Lord of the Rings came at the turn of the new millennium as a herald of what was coming; we can see in this the recurring of the archetypal myth of the Final Battle. Indeed, in the Orcs we see the Forces of Chaos, in fact we can see elements of this in the Red Mob that is today employed against anyone who opposes the Old Order. There are not only Orcs but also races of men, what we today refer to as the White Traitors who have betrayed their Folk, their Gods and their own Ancestors. The hatred of the Orcs is reflected in the hatred of the Red Mob - a seething hatred against anyone who is decent and right. The hatred of the underdog and the low-life. A seething hatred against anything that is noble and truthful - and anything that is White.


This is a war between the Forces of Globalism and the Forces of Nationalism; only a new form of Tribalism leading to new Folk-Nations will counter the Global Forces that are on the brink of achieving their aim of creating a World Government and World State. This is perhaps the best way to view things, since it is simplistic and draws the lines between the two opposing forces today. Many of the 'Left-Wing Anarchists' are supposed to be against 'Globalism' but in reality they oppose 'Global Capitalism' but support 'Global Socialism' or 'Global Communism' which is the 'left-arm' of the New World Order. In reality they actually support globalism through their support of one of its arms. This also applies to Global Capitalists who 'oppose' Global Socialism, for they too support one arm of Globalism. 

Nationalism, by definition, opposes any form of Globalism, and supports the idea of Free Nations rather than a One World Order, or indeed any form of centralised power in the hands of an alien force, an example being the European Union. It is a fact that these forces blunder aimlessly from error to error, causing chaos and disorder whenever they act; it is also a fact that whenever they cause such chaos and disorder they use it as yet another excuse to further their aim of more and more centralisation. Their aim from the very start was to create a European State in their hands; the policies of the European Union have created the 'refugee crisis' and their next move is to use this as an excuse to bring the European Nations further together in a European State. 

As Folkish Wodenists we support the idea of a Folk-Nation, even though at this time we see only the decay and death of the English Nation. As I have shown before this is merely a phase in the historical unfolding of an Archetypal Myth, and thus not an end in itself. Everything has to dissolve into the Primordial Chaos in order for a New Creation to take place. This is all part of the process outlined by Guido von List - Arising - Being - Passing Away to New Arising. This is the cyclic process that we see unfolding today. Put another way this is Birth-Life-Decay/Death- to Rebirth. This is the cyclic nature of the world as we see it. What must arise from the ashes of the fall of the Global World Order is a new form of tribalism and barbarianism, since whenever an empire collapses it breaks into the smallest parts - this happened with the collapse of the Soviet Union. This did not break up into the nations that made it up, but into the original smaller nations that existed prior to the creation of the 'false nations' with false borders enclosing different peoples.



We have shown before the symbolism of the Swan-Ship or Sun-Ship that rides upon the Waters of Chaos, within which is either a Sunwheel or a 'Seed', representing a New Order of Creation (The Sun) or the 'Seeds of Rebirth and Recreation'. This represents the archetypal myth which is best known as 'Noah's Ark', where the 'seeds of rebirth' are represented by the animals that are gathered into the 'Ark'. The Waters of Chaos represent the dissolution of a world-age and a regression into the Primordial Chaos, out of which arises a New Order and a New Man - a New Creation. The times we live in today are thus a time of hope, since we know that we shall win through in the end, though today we face the fierce hate of a Dying Order and overwhelming odds. But, as I said, we cannot face this head-on, since only a fool would face an army of 88 against an army of 88,000.




I have shown this Mayan Stela many,many times, but it is useful to show what I mean here. In this the Serpent-Ship sails upon the Waters of Chaos, but inside is the figure of the Aryan Thunder God (Thunor-Thor), wielding twin-hammers, which represent Mjollnir - the 'Crusher' or 'Grinder'. We need to understand that this name is not arbitrary, it has a clear meaning - it represents the 'grinding' in the 'mill', the destruction of everything which returns to the Primordial Chaos in order to be reformed into a New Creation. The Hammer of Thunor is the Hammer of Destruction, but it is also the Hammer of Creation and symbolises a New Creation. The symbol of the World Mill is another version of this same symbolic act. The 'grains' that are 'milled' are then made into a New Creation, just as bread is made from grains of wheat - a new product emerges from the destruction of the base-material. In the bottom of the boat is a White Stone, which is 'discovered' at the end of a world-age, and represents the New Creation. This is the 'stone' that symbolises the rebuilding of a New Order, and it is carried upon the Waters of Chaos. 




The Jaws of Fenris will swallow Woden as part of this archetypal myth; it is Wid-Ar who rips open the Wolf's Jaws, allowing the Spirit of Woden to escape, and thus be 'resurrected' as his son, Wid-Ar. This is extremely symbolic since it tells us that the 'old' must give way to the 'young' - the old wise wizard Woden has had his day, and he is 'resurrected' in the young Warrior-Hero, Wid-Ar. Like the Fenris Wolf the Forces of Chaos and Disorder are threatening to overwhelm Europe and the Western World. Wid-Ar represents a renewal - a New Creation and a New Man. This is the New Man of the Age of Heroes.

Conservative Inc. Joins "The Left" in Their War on the White Working Class

The hashtag #WhiteGenocide has been a very popular one on social media. This message tells of the purposeful and systematic demographic displacement of Europeans from any and all formerly European nations. It’s usually assumed that it is the Left that supports globalist policies against our people, but it’s actually both sides of the political establishment. Conservative Inc, while it historically has at least pretended to advocate for us, is actively spitting on White Americans and promoting genocidal policies such as mass immigration and Free Trade.

This attack has ramped up in recent weeks with the publication by the ultimate #cuckservative publication, National Review, releasing an article titled Chaos in the Family, Chaos in the State: The White Working Class’s Dysfunction.

Kevin D. Williamson laid his elitist cards on the table:
“The truth about these dysfunctional, downscale communities is that they deserve to die. Economically, they are negative assets. Morally, they are indefensible. Forget all your cheap theatrical Bruce Springsteen crap. Forget your sanctimony about struggling Rust Belt factory towns and your conspiracy theories about the wily Orientals stealing our jobs. Forget your goddamned gypsum, and, if he has a problem with that, forget Ed Burke, too. The white American underclass is in thrall to a vicious, selfish culture whose main products are misery and used heroin needles. Donald Trump’s speeches make them feel good. So does OxyContin.”
The article continues on in what amounts to a cultural and demographic genocide wish list. The Republican Establishment seems to be mad that the White working class isn’t dying off as fast as they originally hoped. With their Agenda 21, Free Trade agreements and mass immigration they had thought they could force us into the multicultural war-zones of modern American cities to die off quickly and quietly. In spite of overwhelming odds, loss of millions of jobs, and disappearing opportunities, White America has dug in its heels.

White Americans know that the most cities are a place of death, misery and victimization by roving street gangs, a growing police state and oppressive taxation. We have overwhelmingly refused to give up our connection with our blood and soil, and that angers the Republican Establishment.

As Benito Mussolini said “We deny your internationalism. That is a luxury article which only the elevated can practice, because peoples are passionately bound to their native soil.” White working class families cannot afford to live in the rich gated communities of White liberals or their hipster neighborhoods, we do not have that opportunity or privilege that the collaborators with the globalists have. We are bound to our native soil, to our ancestors and to the future of our children.

Conservative, Inc. stating that the White working class hasn’t been victimized by their globalist agenda is absolute Orwellian double-think. Mr. Williamson stated in his article that to suggest that White working and middle class families have been hurt by globalism “perpetuates a lie that the white working class that finds itself attracted to Trump has been victimized by outside forces. It hasn’t.” The facts of the matter couldn’t be farther from the rantings of Mr. Williamson and his anti-White cohorts.

The White working class has been specifically targeted by globalist policies and have born the brunt of their negative impact. Newsweek reported that,
“Trade and investment deals have eliminated millions of good jobs, that’s only the most visible part of their corrosive effect on working Americans. Growing trade with low-wage countries has also driven down the wages of most American workers, especially those without college degrees. Expanded trade with low-wage countries has reduced the annual wages of a typical worker by $1,800 per year. Given that there are roughly 100 million non-college-educated workers in the U.S. economy (about 70 percent of the labor force), the scale of wage losses suffered by this group translates to roughly $180 billion.” Not only are the manufacturing, mining and other blue collar jobs being outsourced by the millions, for those who get to keep some of the few remaining jobs, wages are on a downward spiral.

Poverty in rural White communities isn’t due to the failures of those communities, it is due to policies supported by both the Democrats and the Republicans. Beattyville Kentucky, a formerly prosperous town is over 98% White and is in the top five of poor towns in the entire United States. This town, like many others in Appalachia, Midwest and the South, formerly had industry that provided good jobs with living wages for local residents. Beattyville has been crippled by Free Trade as recently reported by The Guardian when it was revealed that “Beattyville’s median household income is just $12,361 (about £8,000) a year, placing it as the third lowest income town in the US, according to that Census Bureau 2008-12 survey. Nationally, the median household income was $53,915 in 2012. In real terms, the income of people in Beattyville is lower than it was in 1980. The town’s poverty rate is 44% above the national average. Half of its families live below the poverty line.”

The area around Beattyville has suffered horrifically economically in the past several generations. Over half of all coal mining jobs have left the region formerly known as “Coal Country.” Good paying factory jobs are a thing of the past where in the past “the largest employers in the town were a factory making uniforms, a data company and a private jail holding prisoners from Vermont. Now, the garment and computer businesses are gone and Vermont has just moved its prisoners to Michigan, where it is cheaper to house them.” It is not the fault of Beattyville that globalist trade policies made Chinese and Mexican slave labor cheaper for American corporations than native born workers. It is the power of globalism to have a “Race to the Bottom” in wages and opportunities that pits the poor against one another as the rich get richer.

Mass immigration has also struck rural White communities in regards to jobs and wages. Wages and the ability for workers to organize has been tied historically and today to supply and demand of labor. Unchecked legal and illegal Third World immigration allows employers to use immigrants to scab against native born workers who attempt to unionize and also drives down wages for workers.

This is why Samuel Gompers, founder and president of the American Federation of Labor was against mass legal and illegal immigration and noted that “corporation employers who desire to employ physical strength (broad backs) at the lowest possible wage and who prefer a rapidly revolving labor supply at low wages to a regular supply of American wage earners at fair wages.” As a labor organizer Samuel Gompers understood that large corporations were specifically using globalist policies such as mass immigration to wage a war against the American worker.

The Federation for American Immigration Reform found that:
“In 2010, Raúl Hinojosa-Ojeda of the Center for American Progress estimated that unskilled workers would on average make about $400 more per year if the illegal immigrant population were reduced by 4 million, or approximately one-third. 30 In Georgia, where the illegal immigrant share of the labor force went from about 4 percent to 7 percent from 2000 to 2007, a study by the Federal Reserve found that the illegal labor caused a 2.5 percent wage drop overall and an 11 percent drop in construction wages over the period… The National Research Council’s landmark 1997 study estimated that high school dropouts earn 5 percent less per year due to immigration, which totaled $13 billion in wage losses at a time when the illegal alien population stood at less than half its present number. 32 Harvard University’s George Borjas concluded that immigration reduced wages for the poorest 10 percent of Americans by about 7.4 percent between 1980 and 2000 with even larger effects for workers with less than 20 years of experience.”

As the cost of healthcare, food and other necessities is increasing, the White working class is losing millions of jobs and billions of dollars in lost wages due to globalism. The Huffington Post wrote about the effects of NAFTA and found that America now has “a staggering $181 billion U.S. trade deficit with NAFTA partners Mexico and Canada” and “U.S. workers without college degrees (63 percent of the workforce) likely have lost a net amount equal to 12.2 percent of their wages under NAFTA-style trade even after accounting for gains from cheaper goods. This net loss means a loss of more than 3,300 per year for a worker earning the median annual wage of 27,500.”

Illegal immigration has also been pushed by Free Trade due to its disastorous impact on the Mexican agricultural economy. The Huffington Post continued by pointing out that “The export of subsidized U.S. corn did increase under NAFTA, destroying the livelihoods of more than one million Mexican campesino farmers and about 1.4 million additional Mexican workers whose livelihoods depended on agriculture.” This is a globalist war against the White working class both economically and demographically by destroying the Mexican agricultural economy and then encouraging those Mexicans to come to America to compete with our native born labor force, a double wound against the White working class.

As the rich get richer and working families fall behind, it is not hard to see the impact of globalism on our communities. Peter Petri, a finance professor at Brandeis University estimates that 10 percent to 20 percent of the increase in income inequality can be attributed to free trade overall. These policies do not happen in a vacuum, they impact tens of millions of  hard-working families.

The dramatic rise in suicide and drug abuse among the White working class is correlated to the areas that have suffered the largest job losses and decline in wages. These families are losing hope in their future, a future for their children and the direction of their communities. Through no fault of their own, the elites have spent decades dismantling and destroying their homes and livelihoods. National Review has been at the forefront of pressing economic issues and pushing “social issues” off of the table every legislative session, and then they have the nerve to sneer at Main Street for choking on the toxic brew of libertarian economics and liberal morality they’ve been pretending is “conservative.”

When you read the writings of Washington elites in their gated communities like Kevin Williamson talk disparagingly about our folk, don’t be surprised. National Review supports mass immigration, Free Trade and a culture war against our people; as does the rest of the Republican Establishment. The elites of both major political Parties hate normal hard working White Americans and seek not only our destruction, but the destruction of our entire way of life.

The only way to fix these issues is to support a movement that puts sane economic policies, protection of our culture and a dedication to our communities as their primary objective. The only way to solve the drug, divorce, and disease problems in our communities is with a party that goes beyond economics to mend the spiritual and social fabric of our nation. Republicans and Democrats have sold us down the river, the only option left for White working class Americans is the Traditionalist Worker Party. It’s time to get in the fight!

Unsurprisingly, the Jew throws in the typical Hitler comparison when talking about Trump’s political rhetoric.
It is too early to tell if there will actually be a wave (or even a trickle) of Americans immigrating to Canada if Donald Trump is elected the president of the United States this November. However, based on a spike of more than 350% in Google searches of “how to move to Canada” after Trump won primaries in seven states on Super Tuesday, it would seem that at least some Americans are looking into their options.
Jay Rosenthal, an American Jew who married a Canadian woman and moved to Toronto, wants his compatriots to know they don’t need to go it alone if they choose to cross the 49th parallel. In a new online initiative, he has offered to be their concierge — their go-to guy for all their questions about life in the Great White North.
Rosenthal recently launched “If Trump Then Canada: Helping Americans Escape Since 2016,” a blog on which he posts US election-related items. It also has a page where people can get in touch with Rosenthal.
“I’m here to help. Looking for where you might go, I can help. Seeking which hockey team to root for, I can help. Planning a little visit, need a lawyer or an accountant or just a friendly shoulder to cry on… I’m here,” he tells potential US escapees. […]
Rosenthal, 42, told The Times of Israel that he has fielded a handful of email inquiries from people asking about different Canadian cities and neighborhoods.
“I’ve gotten into conversations with them and forwarded them articles and other information,” Rosenthal said.
Rosenthal is also happy to refer people to an attorney and an accountant — both professionals whose services he knows first-hand are helpful to American transplants. […]
As an American observing the US election campaigns from Canada, Rosenthal finds what is happening “scary but not surprising.”
“The emphasis on celebrity, the populism, and the taking pride in anti-intellectualism that we are seeing are not surprising. The chickens have come home to roost for the Republican party,” he said.
Rosenthal was disappointed that AIPAC invited Trump to speak at its annual policy conference last week.
“There should be concern among American Jews about his rhetoric. His playbook is not dissimilar to Hitler’s in terms of scapegoating and playing on fear of the other,” he observed. […]
These people are so weak and pathetic. The constant comparison of Trump to Hitler, despite the ADL’s memo denouncing such a comparison, is truly absurd. Trump simply wants to enforce U.S. federal immigration laws and deal responsibly with America’s immigration crisis.

Trump is clearly a threat not only to the left, but the entire political establishment.

He is going rogue on U.S. foreign policy (see here). He has already gone rogue on immigration, political correctness, and “free” trade. The neocon Jews who have dominated the Republican Party for decades now are openly saying they will vote for Hillary or run a third party candidate to prevent Trump from winning the White House.

If some Americans really do wish to flee the U.S. once Trump is elected president, I say: good riddance! I hope all the neocons, Israel-firsters, cultural Marxists, and brainwashed anti-Whites join them.

Moorish Spain: A Successful Multicultural Paradise? Part 1

The Myth of the Andalusian Paradise:
Muslims, Christians, and Jews under Islamic Rule in Medieval Spain

Dario Fernandez-Morera, of Cuban extraction, is associate professor of Spanish and Portuguese at Northwestern University. He has previously published American Academia and the Survival of Marxist Ideas (1996), as well as numerous papers on the literature of Spain’s Golden Age.

In this new book he tackles one of the anti-European left’s most cherished delusions, viz., that al-Andalus, or Moorish Spain (711–1492 AD), was a successful multicultural society in which Christians, Jews and Muslims flourished together beneath the tolerant eye of enlightened Islamic rulers. These supposed halcyon days of Moorish tolerance are contrasted favorably with both the Visigothic Kingdom that preceded them and the Spain of the inquisition that followed.

So popular has the romantic image of enlightened Muslim Spain become that it has been publicly endorsed by such distinguished historical scholars as Barack Obama and Tony Blair. Indeed, according to Prof. David Levering Lewis, Europeans missed a golden opportunity by not going down to defeat at the Battle of Tours in 732 AD. If only Charles Martel’s Franks had succumbed, he writes,
the post-Roman Occident would probably have been incorporated into a cosmopolitan Muslim regnum unobstructed by borders … one devoid of a priestly caste, animated by the dogma of equality of the faithful, and respectful of all religious faiths.
In two-hundred-forty pages of exposition backed up by ninety-six closely printed pages of notes, Fernandez-Morera methodically demolishes this optimistic multicultural object lesson by means of copious references to the primary documents: writings by Muslims, Christians and Jews who actually lived under Islamic rule in Spain. The cumulative effect of the evidence he cites should be enough to prove to any unbiased observer that Moorish Spain, if no worse than other Muslim-controlled societies of its time, was also no better.

The first point to grasp is that the Muslim invasion of 711 AD did not bring enlightenment to a cultural wasteland:
Spain was under Roman control and influence longer than any Western land outside of Italy and produced more Latin writers and emperors than any other Roman province. The Visigoths were the most Romanized of all the peoples that took over the Latin Roman Empire. Visigothic leaders spoke Latin and had spent generations in military and political service to Rome.
In fact, Visigothic forces first entered Spain in 415 AD in order to help the Romans militarily against an invasion  by less civilized Germanic tribes such as the Sueves, Alans, and Vandals. The three centuries which followed saw the gradual blending of the Roman and Germanic elements into a new Christian Hispano-Visigothic civilization. Important steps in this process included the allowance of intermarriage between Visigoths and Hispano-Romans by the laws of King Leovigild (reigned 568–586) and the conversion of his son and successor Recared from Arianism to Catholic Christianity, the religion of the native majority, in 589.

The new civilization featured a wealth of sacred art and music, as well as
learned men such as Saint Leander (who lived in the Greek Roman Empire for a number of years and presided over the Third Toledan Council), Bishop Eugene of Toledo (expert in mathematics and astronomy), Conantius of Palencia (expert in music) and the poet-king Sisebut (who wrote an astronomical poem in Latin). Saint Isidore [Bishop of Seville] (560–636) wrote linguistic studies, natural science and cosmology treatises, biographies of biblical personages, historical works, and compendia of Greco-Roman civilization, [becoming] the most widely cited author of the European High Middle Ages.
Visigothic law also demonstrated a typically European concern for limiting the power of the ruler. Sections of the legal code, e.g., bore titles such as “The Royal Power, as well as the Entire Body of the People, should be Subject to the Majesty of the Law” and “How the Avarice of the King should be Restrained.”

While a promising Christian Hispano-Visigothic civilization was developing in Spain, Islam was born amid the tents of largely illiterate Bedouin nomads in the Arabian peninsula. In the latter half of the seventh century, Muslim warriors overran the northern coast of Africa, destroying the Christian kingdoms that had previously existed there. In 711, a mostly Berber Muslim army under the command of Musa bin Nusayr crossed over to Spain and conquered almost the entire peninsula within ten years.

Arabic chronicles record the astonishment of the uncultured Muslim invaders at the splendor of the Spanish cities, and dwell lovingly on the “unimaginable” treasures of gold and jewels the conquerors were able to carry off. An Arab chronicler records, e.g., that when the conqueror Musa visited Damascus to pay homage to the caliph, he took with him
all the spoil … consisting of thirty skins full of gold and silver coin, necklaces of inestimable value, pearls, rubies, topazes and emeralds, besides costly robes of all sorts; he was followed by eleven hundred prisoners, men, women, and children, of whom four hundred were princes of the royal blood.
In response to the plundering, many Christians buried valuable religious art from the invaders, and archeologists still occasionally dig up such testimonies to the advanced material culture of Visigothic Spain.

The Muslim invaders of 711 were numerically far inferior to the natives, and many historians have expressed surprise at their rapid success. Factors playing into their hands included the inability of the Visigoths to assemble rapidly, and the existence of a discontented royal faction willing to side with the invaders against King Roderigo.

Spanish Jews, subjected by Christian Visigothic rulers to significant legal restrictions, also allied themselves with the invading army in the hope of improving their condition. For a time, they succeeded: Jews were employed guarding captured cities as the Muslims went on to new conquests, relieving the conquerors of concern for protecting their rear and allowing them to show up unexpectedly at key strategic points. Once the Muslims were firmly in control, however, Jews were reduced to a position similar to Christians.

Muslim commanders also offered “pacts” to Christian lords who agreed not to resist the invasion, allowed to keep their lands, servants and religion—for a time. As with the Jews, Muslim rulers reneged upon these agreements when it became convenient to do so. The only reason they were offered in the first place was the numerical weakness of the invaders; they are not indicative of Muslim “tolerance.”

Andalusian legal texts give us an idea of what the conquest must have been like, making clear that both the burning down and the flooding of infidel towns were permissible as part of jihad. So was “cutting down their trees and their fruits, killing their animals, and destroying their buildings and everything that can be broken down.” Whether the defeated were allowed to live or were massacred was entirely up to the victorious Muslim commander; there are a number of recorded cases of outright extermination.

A Christian chronicle described the conquest as follows:
The enemies ravaged the land, they burned the houses, they killed the men, they burned the cities, the trees, the vineyards and anything they found green they cut. So much grew this plague that there remained in Spain no good village or city … that was not burned or brought down or taken over by the Moors; and the cities they could not conquer they tricked them and conquered them with false treaties.
Many modern historians seek to deny that the Muslim invasion of Spain (which they prefer to call a mere “expansion”) was religiously motivated. This view is contradicted by all medieval sources. But the contemporary academy is heavily devoted to a materialist interpretation of history derived from Marxism, and scholars of this tendency prefer to emphasize economic factors such as the quest for booty.

Yet it is difficult to separate economic from spiritual motivations within the terms of Islamic thought: the Muslim soldier wins booty if he returns home successful and is promised a paradise filled with sensual enjoyment if he is killed. Martyrdom in the cause of Islam is highly praised by Andalusian writers; according to one of them, Muhammad himself once said: “I would like to fight in the way of Allah … and be killed, then brought to life so I could be killed, then brought to life so I could be killed.”

Islam’s many academic apologists in the West have devoted a great deal of interpretive ingenuity to making out a case that the word jihad refers to something other than “Holy War against infidels,” such as “a spiritual exertion” or “interior struggle for self-perfection.” Such ideas are found in Sufi texts of a later date, but appear to have been wholly absent from medieval Andalusia: the author lists over a dozen key texts from Moorish Spain that discuss jihad exclusively in the sense of Holy War.

Another gambit of Islam’s apologists is to equate Muslim Holy War with the Christian Crusades, but Fernandez-Morera explains why this does not withstand analysis:
For devout Christians, the sacred war of a Crusade was a unique event that only a pope could proclaim. For devout Muslims the sacred war of jihad was a permanent state of being decreed by Islamic law that the caliph must wage at least once a year.
For more than four decades following the conquest, the victorious Berbers continued to live a primitive, nomadic life, carrying their possessions and wives about from place to place. Only in 755 did the Emir of Cordoba command them to build villages and settle down.

The period which followed is known as the Umayyad dynasty (756–1031), usually cited as the pinnacle of Andalusian civilization. In fact, the Umayyads “elevated religious and political persecutions, inquisitions, beheadings, impaling, and crucifixions to heights unequaled by any other set of rulers before or after in Spain.”

The fourteenth-century Arab historian Ibn Khaldun has this to say about these early Arab rulers:
The Arabs were coarse, without education, and not very skilled in the arts of writing and mathematics. Their nobility in particular were very unskilled because among them a lack of knowledge was their distinctive characteristic. Thus they used Jews, Christians, and freed foreigners to handle their administrative affairs.
This use of Christians and Jews as administrators, motivated by practical necessity, is one of the points on which modern historians seize to justify their view of the Spanish Muslim rulers as “tolerant.” But the everyday reality for most Spanish Christians and Jews under Islamic rule was an entirely different matter.

Following the conquest of 711, non-Muslims were given a choice between converting, being killed, or accepting the status of dhimmis, a “protected” class obliged to pay a special tax called the jizya. The law of the time makes clear that one purpose of the jizya was to humiliate the “people of the book.” Here is how it was paid:
The dhimmi, standing, would present the money to the Muslim collector who would be sitting higher up on a sort of throne; this Muslim bureaucrat would hold the dhimmi by the throat telling him “Oh dhimmi, enemy of Allah, pay the jizya that you owe us for the protection and tolerance we grant you”; the other Muslims present would  imitate the collector, pushing around the dhimmi. To this amusing spectacle should be admitted any Muslim who wants to enjoy it.
Fernandez-Morera comments: “The dhimma system, then, was a gangster-like ‘protection racket’ that was quite profitable for the Muslim rulers.” This profitability is the main reason Spanish Muslims preferred not to make outright slaves of Christians and Jews. All sorts of other taxes could be arbitrarily piled on top of the jizya as well, in order to maintain Muslim rulers’ ostentatious lifestyle and subsidize poets, intellectuals, slaves, palaces, harems and city embellishment programs.
Much Islamic law centers around the concepts of purity and impurity, and non-Muslims are considered a major source of impurity. The Maliki school of jurisprudence, which was in force for most of the period of Moorish rule in Spain, devotes much attention to the problems posed by water, garments and food touched by Christians. It was forbidden, e.g., to use the water left over by a Christian, or to use for ablutions anything a Christian has touched, or to eat food left over by a Christian. It was not considered advisable even to eat an animal a Christian had hunted.

Muslim purity requirements meant that, as a practical matter, Christians and Jews had to be physically confined to their own neighborhoods much of the time, and writings from Moorish Spain contain numerous references to such separate neighborhoods. Interaction seems to have been largely confined to economic transactions.

According to the regulations issued by one Muslim cleric in Seville (c. 1100), Jews and Christians
must be abhorred and shunned and should not be greeted with the formula “Peace be with you,” for the devil has gained mastery over them and has made them forget the name of God.  They are the devil’s party.  They must  have a distinguishing sign by which they are recognized to their shame.
Christians were required to stand in the presence of Muslims as a sign of respect. They were forbidden to carry weapons or to ride horses. They were normally prohibited from building new churches, and required permission even to repair existing churches. They could not convert mosques into churches, but churches could be, and often were, converted into mosques.  The muezzin loudly called Muslims to prayer, but churches were forbidden to ring their bells. Christians could display crosses neither on their persons nor on the outside of their churches. Muslims could proselytize, but Christians could not.  A Muslim could not only marry up to four wives but also keep as many sexual slaves as he could support. The latter did not have to be Muslim, but any children they bore had to be raised Muslim. Christian men, on the other hand, were prohibited from taking Muslim wives or concubines. All these regulations also applied, mutatis mutandis, to Jews as well.

There were occasional outbreaks of resistance from the subject population, always suppressed with ruthless force. The most famous such episode was that of the Martyrs of Cordoba. In 850 AD, a monk named Perfectus was asked by some Muslims to explain what Christianity taught about Muhammad. He responded that they might not like the answer. When they persisted, he made them promise not to tell anyone. He then quoted the gospel passage in which Christ warns that “many false prophets will come in my name,” and explained that Christians consider Muhammad such a false prophet. Some days later, the same Muslims spotted Perfectus in town and pointed him out to a crowd of Muslims, saying he had insulted the Prophet. He was thrown in prison, interrogated, and eventually beheaded.

The following year, a monk named Isaac went to Cordoba and declared in the presence of a Muslim judge that Muhammad was a false prophet and Islam a false religion, He was beheaded publicly and his cadaver was hung upside down at one of the city gates.

These events gave birth to a movement. Within a few years, some fifty Christians publicly proclaimed their belief in Christ and the fraudulence of Muhammad’s supposed divine mission. Some were beheaded, others impaled, others flogged to death, others boiled alive. Among these martyrs were a number who had publicly converted to Islam while continuing to practice Christianity privately—the worst form of apostasy, according to Islamic law.

The ruler Abd al-Rahman II responded by confiscating Christian property and taking steps to make life more difficult for all Christians. On the advice of Muslim clerics, he convened a church council in Cordoba which, under pressure, commanded Christians not to seek martyrdom. Eventually, the movement petered out.

The Martyrs of Cordoba have received little sympathy from modern historians, who have called them “troublemakers” and “self-immolators”:
As far back as Reinhart Dozy in the nineteenth century and [Evariste] Lévi-Provençal in the early twentieth, and continuing to the present, scholars have typically described the actions of the martyrs as the foolish decisions of religious fanatics, of recalcitrant and ignorant monks and their unthinking followers. In one representative statement, a scholar called the Christian resistance the work of “an intransigent minority, not at all willing to live in peaceful convivencia and respect toward Islam.” […] The implication is clear: these people should have been grateful to the tolerant Muslim authorities.
This stance would be called “blaming the victim” were the victims anyone but European Christians.

Many Christians fled to the Christian kingdoms of the north (although modern historians prefer to speak of a “migration” rather than a “flight”). By 1200, there were very few Christians left in Andalusia.
